Job Summary:The OSM Area Field Engineer (AFE) supports the Module Yard Manager by leading field engineering activities for module free issue material receipt, assembly, installation, testing, completion, and turnover. This role provides technical leadership for subcontractor coordination, work planning, material management, safety, quality, and module delivery to the jobsite.
The AFE supervises the module yard field engineering team and serves as the primary technical interface among Engineering, Procurement, Subcontracts, Construction, Quality, Startup, Materials Management, Logistics, and OSM stakeholders. The position resolves field issues, manages carry-over and work-to-go scope, coordinates module interfaces with adjacent systems and commodities, and supports mechanical completion, system turnover, and startup readiness.
Major Responsibilities:Module Yard Execution
- Provide technical leadership for module assembly, installation, field completion, and turnover.
- Develop and manage module assembly, completion, and turnover plans aligned with construction, startup, and project milestones.
- Coordinate module receipt, inspection, preservation, logistics interfaces, and installation readiness with Construction, Logistics, Materials Management, and Quality.
- Resolve module punch items, carryover work, field nonconformances, design changes, and incomplete fabrication-yard scope.
Field Engineering Coordination
- Manage field engineering support for module assembly, module-to-module connections, commodity tie-ins, and multi-discipline system interfaces.
- Prioritize engineering deliverables, design change requests, RFIs, NCRs, and technical clarifications required for module completion and turnover.
- Maintain configuration control between module fabrication records, field changes, as-built conditions, and turnover documentation.
Work Planning, Materials, and Quantities
- Ensure work packages, installation plans, test packages, turnover packages, and completion records are prepared and executed in accordance with project procedures.
- Support planning and forecasting for labor, equipment, materials, and field engineering resources required to meet module completion objectives.
- Coordinate free-issued material shortages, replacement materials, field-fabricated items, and procurement support needed to close module work-to-go items.
- Initiate requisitions for field purchases and prepare quantity takeoffs for field-purchased materials and equipment.
- Verify subcontractor-installed quantities and maintain quantity tracking in applicable project systems.
Safety, Quality, and Compliance
- Ensure Zero Accidents requirements are implemented in the work area, with tools and equipment maintained in safe operating condition.
- Monitor subcontractor module completion and verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards.
Turnover and Startup Readiness
- Coordinate with Startup, System Owners, Quality, and Construction Supervision to achieve mechanical completion, system completion, and turnover readiness.
- Support final system testing, commissioning, walkdowns, punchlist closeout, turnover, and handover to site team.
Digital Tools, Reporting, and Risk Management
- Use BIM, Power BI, TeamWorks, DSCS, Aconex, turnover databases, completion systems, and construction reporting tools to track module status and report performance metrics.
- Identify and mitigate risks affecting module installation, field execution, interface management, startup readiness, and schedule recovery.
- Facilitate subcontractor coordination meetings and participate in weekly cross-functional meetings to resolve issues and maintain execution alignment.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and pursue appropriate development opportunities.
