Your Opportunity

Your role as an Architect on our Buildings Government Service team is to work independently assisting clients through the planning and creation of projects that are rooted in a deep understanding of our client's needs, are fiscally responsible, and represent design excellence. Your experience ensures that you are familiar with the design process from inception through close-out, code and regulatory requirements, contract documentation, estimates and building codes. You will participate in diverse project teams successfully throughout the design process, managing workflow and production activities, while ensuring client satisfaction with the process and product. You will assist in business development activities, nurturing existing client accounts and seeking to grow our client base through building new relationships and project pursuits.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning, organization, and directing of work throughout the life cycle of the project.
  • Engage in the development of design through sketches, modeling, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats.
  • Utilize BIM technologies in the development of three-dimensional models of buildings and their components.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of buildings and structures to ensure compliance with building codes and standards.
  • Assess the existing condition of building components based on factors like age, functionality, appearance, and operating conditions.
  • Participate in design critiques and pin-ups.
  • Interpret and apply building codes and requirements of other regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare and revise documentation in various architectural phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, and details.
  • Participate in bidding and negotiation phase and prepare addenda.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals, respond to RFIs, prepare site observation reports, and other contract administration tasks.
  • Lead project coordination and meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner, contractor and sub-contractors.
  • Participate in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating.
  • Assist in the preparation of the project specifications, and coordination of specifications with construction documents.
  • Participate in constructability review.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on projects to include reviewing completed reports, plans, estimates, and calculations.
  • Prepare and ensure work conforms to project budget, schedule, and overall work planning.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills for client presentations and team coordination.
  • Ability to travel both domestically & internationally.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple projects at once.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex design and construction challenges.
  • Ability to hand sketch and/or communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively is a plus.
  • Requisite knowledge and application of accessibility codes and applicable building codes.
  • Detailed understanding of all phases of architectural document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • General knowledge of building construction systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Check own work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUP, Newforma, and Bluebeam.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's Degree in Architecture.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Registered Architect license is required.
  • LEED Certification preferred.
