JOB SUMMARYAs the Application Support Engineer 2 at Marki Microwave, you lead Marki's email technical support function - the primary channel through which customers reach Marki with questions about product selection, board-level debug, competitive cross-referencing, and custom measurement requests. You own overall performance against Marki's support KPIs, provide the technical depth required to serve Tier 1 customers' senior engineering teams, and mentor the Application Support Engineer I. This role also owns the ongoing accuracy of Marki's published datasheets.
This role is based at Marki Microwave's Morgan Hill headquarters and typically represents an engineer who has completed or is near completion of Marki's rotation program and is building leadership experience by preparing the next Application Support Engineer I to take on the team's ownership responsibilities.
This role will require access to access information controlled under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR, 15 CFR §§ 730-780),and likely the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR, 22 CFR §§ 120-130), and so applicants for this position must be one of a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or other Protected Individual (as defined under 8 USC § 1324b(a)(3)).ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Own overall performance against Marki's email support KPIs across all customer tiers; report on trends, backlog, and support quality to the Applications Engineering Manager.
- Serve as the primary point of contact and final technical reviewer for Tier 1 customer communications, ensuring responses meet the rigor expected by senior engineers at major accounts.
- Provide technical guidance on product selection, cross-referencing to competitor parts, application-specific recommendations, and board-level/system-level debug for Marki's fully released product line.
- Submit and manage test requests to the Test & Validation team for customer-requested custom or non-standard measurements, and translate results into clear customer-facing responses.
- Own the accuracy, updates, and ongoing maintenance of Marki datasheets, incorporating new measurement data, corrections, reliability information, and clarifications as they become available.
- Mentor, train, and develop the Application Support Engineer I, including onboarding them to Marki's full product catalog and customer communication standards, and preparing them to eventually assume team leadership.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Application Support team and the Test & Validation team in Morgan Hill.
- Escalate inquiries involving custom, non-standard, or pre-release products to the Technical/Product Marketing teams.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to email support workflows, datasheet maintenance procedures, and escalation paths.
- Promote an ethics-based business culture in the organization.
REQUIREMENTS- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics with a focus in RF/Microwave; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree a plus.
- 2-4 years of experience working with RF products, ideally including time in Marki's Application Support Engineer I role or an equivalent customer-facing technical role.
- Prior experience mentoring or training junior engineers is a plus.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES- Strong understanding of RF/Microwave device physics and component theory (Mixers, Passives, Amplifiers, Switches).
- Working knowledge of RF/Microwave testing theory and standard lab equipment (Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Generator, Power Meter, Power Supplies, Oscilloscope, Multimeter) sufficient to interpret data and speak credibly with senior customer engineers about measurement methodology.
- Deep, comprehensive understanding of every measurement reported across Marki's datasheet catalog, including how each is tested.
- Excellent written communication skills; able to produce clear, technically precise, professional correspondence under time pressure and a high volume of concurrent inquiries.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop a junior engineer.
- Strong prioritization and process-improvement mindset.
