SALARY RANGE $124,000 - $181,000/year.
The Application Engineer III will support the Secure the Enterprise initiative by transitioning from manual system security evaluation and authorization to an automated, streamlined model with continuous monitoring and comprehensive data collection throughout the project lifecycle.
Position Overview:
- Collaborate across Software Development, Systems Engineering, Systems Administration, and Operations Support teams.
- Monitor and maintain application systems to ensure data reliability and accuracy.
- Enhance operational performance through ongoing monitoring, proactive troubleshooting, and implementing system or code changes as needed.
- Track system health using metrics, logs, dashboards, alerts, and application status to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
- Identify and escalate issues such as service degradation, failed dataflows, system errors, and application problems during watchfloor operations.
- Perform essential Linux administration tasks, including service management, log review, and resource validation (disk, memory, CPU), as well as supporting server reboots.
- Support cloud operations by using AWS Console or CLI to monitor instance health, review system status, and perform basic troubleshooting or server restarts.
- Work rotating 12-hour shifts (6AM-6PM / 6PM-6AM) to provide 24/7 application support on the watch floor.
This role requires a blend of technical skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, 24 x 7 operational environment.
Required SkillsQUALIFICATIONS Ph.D. plus two (2) years of experience, a Master's degree plus four (4) years of experience, Bachelor's degree plus six (6) years of experience, or an Associate's degree plus eight (8) years of professional experience is acceptable. Ten (10) years of relevant experience and a High School Diploma/GED is acceptable.
Required: Prospective candidates must have proficiency in one or more of the following skillsets / technologies:
- Monitoring / Watchfloor Operations: Grafana, Kibana, Splunk, CloudWatch, or similar monitoring tools; dashboard monitoring, alert triage, log review, incident escalation, and shift turnover support.
- Linux / Systems Administration: Comfortable working in a Linux environment; ability to check system health, start, stop, and restart services, review logs, and reboot servers safely.
- Cloud / AWS Operations: C2E, HCI, AWS, Lambda, AWS Console, or AWS CLI experience supporting EC2 instances, service health checks, and basic operational troubleshooting.
- Dataflow / Application Support: Apache NiFi, Cribl, Kafka, Logstash, or similar data pipeline / dataflow tools; experience monitoring application health, failed jobs, queues, data movement, and ingestion issues
- DevOps: Terraform, Ansible, GitLab Pipelines, Docker.
This position requires a CWIP IAT II Certification.
