DMI, LLC is seeking an Applications Programmer, Level III (Appian) to provide a senior, certified Appian professional responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining complex business process management applications on the Appian low-code platform, and for administering the program's Appian instance. The role owns operations and maintenance of a production portfolio of regulatory review workflows and mentors less experienced developers. Appian platform experience is mandatory and cannot be substituted with experience on other low-code or business process management platforms.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain complex business process management applications on the Appian low-code platform.
- Administer the program's Appian instance, including cloud platform administration, environment configuration, and deployment management.
- Deliver operations and maintenance support, bug fixes, and minor enhancements of under 200 hours to a production portfolio of approximately 26 active Appian workflows supporting multiple regulatory program offices.
- Configure and optimize workflow processes, forms, records, and interfaces to support regulatory review, content management, and search functions.
- Integrate Appian workflows with external application programming interfaces, content management repositories, forms management platforms, and messaging services.
- Lead and mentor less experienced developers, providing technical direction and code review on Appian development standards.
- Implement artificial intelligence and large language model capabilities within Appian workflows to automate document processing and data extraction.
- Support release planning, unit and integration testing, Section 508 accessibility remediation, and release package preparation under the agency's lifecycle process.
Qualifications
Education and Years of Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related technical field. An additional four years of directly relevant application development experience may substitute for the degree.
- 8 or more years of application development experience, including 5 or more years of hands-on Appian development.
- Current Appian certification. The contract requires a certified, senior-level professional without naming a specific credential; DMI's screening standard is Appian Certified Senior Developer or Appian Certified Lead Developer.
- Demonstrated Appian platform administration experience, including Appian Cloud environment administration, deployment, and configuration management.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining and enhancing a production portfolio of Appian process models and applications in an operations and maintenance context.
- Experience integrating Appian with external systems through application programming interfaces and web services.
- Experience providing technical leadership and mentorship to other Appian developers.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Moderate Risk (Tier 2) Public Trust background investigation and a government PIV credential.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Appian Certified Lead Developer credential.
- Experience with Appian 25.x on Appian Cloud platform-as-a-service.
- Experience integrating Appian with Documentum, Adobe Experience Manager, Apache Kafka, or Apache Solr.
- Experience embedding artificial intelligence or large language model services into Appian process automation.
- Federal regulatory, licensing, or submission review workflow experience.
