The PWB Layout Engineer performs printed wiring board layout and documentation activities for RF, analog, digital, and mixed-signal designs used in high-reliability space and defense applications. Responsibilities include development of multilayer rigid, flex, and rigid-flex board designs, creation of associated fabrication and assembly documentation, and application of IPC Class 3 and other applicable design standards. The role requires close coordination with cross-functional engineering teams and external fabrication partners to ensure designs meet electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing requirements.
RESPONSIBILITES- Design and layout printed wiring boards for RF, analog, digital, and mixed-signal applications in support of high-reliability and space-based electronic systems.
- Perform component placement and routing for multilayer rigid, flex, and rigid-flex board designs in accordance with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing requirements.
- Translate schematic and engineering design intent into producible PWB layouts and associated documentation.
- Generate and maintain fabrication, assembly, and release documentation for new and updated board designs.
- Apply IPC Class 3 requirements and other applicable customer, military, aerospace, and internal standards to PWB designs.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams throughout the design process.
- Participate in design reviews and implement feedback from engineering stakeholders.
- Work with fabrication and assembly suppliers to address manufacturability issues and resolve design-related questions.
- Support library maintenance activities including creation and revision of part symbols, land patterns, and related CAD data.
- Incorporate engineering changes into existing designs while maintaining documentation accuracy and configuration control.
- Perform design checks to ensure layout accuracy, completeness, compliance, and producibility.
