Full Job Description
We are seeking a proven commercial executive to serve as Alpha Chief Commercial Officer, accountable for market growth, client engagement, pipeline quality, retention, and expansion across Alpha Platform & Software. This leader will work closely with Sales, the Global Client Division, and country heads to pursue the right opportunities and strengthen accountability for client and growth outcomes.
The successful candidate is a revenue-owning leader who has built and scaled commercial organizations in enterprise software, asset servicing, or investment technology - someone equally credible setting go-to-market strategy and sitting across the table from a sovereign wealth fund or a global asset manager.
As Alpha Chief Commercial Officer you will:
• Own the global commercial strategy and revenue agenda for Alpha Platform & Software, including new logo acquisition, upsell into existing Alpha clients, retention, and profitable growth.
• Define and execute the go-to-market model - segmentation, channel approach, market prioritization, and value proposition - across asset managers, asset owners, wealth managers, and private markets clients.
• Lead and integrate the Alpha and Charles River Development commercial organizations, including sales, sales engineering, and client coverage, into a single, coordinated motion.
• Instill pipeline discipline and forecasting rigor, with clear conversion metrics, win-rate accountability, and transparent reporting to Alpha leadership and the Executive Committee.
• Partner with the Global Client Division, country heads, and enterprise business leaders to align coverage, avoid channel conflict, and present One State Street to the client.
• Partner with the Alpha Chief Product Officer on pricing, packaging, commercial terms, and market-fit positioning so that commercial commitments and the product roadmap remain aligned.
• Partner with the Head of Client Implementation and the Head of Service Delivery to protect time-to-value, reference ability, and client retention after the sale.
• Serve as senior executive sponsor for strategic client relationships and represent Alpha with clients, prospects, consultants, and at industry forums.
• Bring market intelligence, competitive insight, and client feedback back into Alpha's strategy and investment planning.
• Build, develop, and lead a high-performing global commercial organization, strengthening talent depth across regions and setting clear performance expectations.
These skills will help you succeed in this role:
• Demonstrated ownership of a material revenue target and the operating discipline to deliver against it.
• Executive presence and credibility with sophisticated institutional clients, boards, and consultants.
• Commercial judgment on pricing, deal structuring, and profitability - not volume at any cost.
• Ability to lead through a global matrix and build alignment across product, technology, delivery, and enterprise coverage teams.
• A collaborative, One State Street mindset that reduces fragmentation and strengthens ownership of client outcomes.
• Strong risk excellence orientation, with sound judgment on client commitments, controls, and regulatory expectations.
Education & preferred qualifications
• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive commercial leadership experience in enterprise software, financial technology, or asset servicing, including significant time at the executive level.
• Proven record of building and scaling a global sales, coverage, or commercial organization with full revenue accountability.
• Direct experience selling complex, multi-year platform or front-to-back solutions to institutional investors.
• Track record of improving win rates, pipeline quality, and client retention in a competitive market.
• Experience operating as a member of a senior leadership team with board- and executive-level exposure.
Salary Range:
$300,000 - $412,500 Annual
