Full Job Description
The AI Transformation Director owns AI transformation for Finance. Sitting within the AI Transformation Office and partnering directly with the department's executive leadership, this person determines where AI can create the greatest value and leads initiatives from concept through sustained adoption. The role partners across Finance to identify high-value opportunities in planning, forecasting, accounting, reporting, and analysis. It combines a strong understanding of Finance processes with the ability to apply AI, automation, and technology to simplify work, improve data quality and accessibility, and increase the function's capacity for decision support. They define the portfolio, build solutions, assemble working teams within the department, and drive execution. The mandate is department-wide transformation, not isolated tools, individual productivity gains, or passive intake of ideas. The AI Transformation Director also helps shape company-wide standards for how AI is applied and governed, informed by what works across departments. This is a full-time individual contributor role reporting to the Chief of Staff, AI Transformation. The role will be hybrid, based or in New York City.
What You'll Do
Own and continuously refine an AI transformation roadmap aligned with the finance organizations strategy and business goals.
Develop a deep understanding of the department's operations, workflows, and constraints by working directly with business leaders, process owners, subject-matter experts, and end users to identify high-value AI opportunities and size their potential impact.
Map the stakeholders and cross-functional touchpoints required for each initiative, assemble the right working team, define decision rights and responsibilities, and drive execution across contributors.
Lead priority initiatives from problem definition through build, pilot, rollout, adoption, and measurement.
Ensure solutions support strong financial controls, data integrity, documentation, and auditability, with appropriate human review and monitoring.
Build and configure AI-enabled solutions hands-on, particularly during prototyping and early implementation.
Assemble the right working team for each initiative, define responsibilities, establish accountability, and drive execution across contributors.
Determine the technology, process changes, operating model, and resources required to deliver and sustain each initiative.
Establish standards for how AI is applied within the department, including how solutions are evaluated for accuracy, risk, and return on investment.
Define success measures, track realized value, and stop, redesign, or redirect initiatives that do not meet expectations.
Communicate results and tradeoffs to Finance leaders, including progress against expected value, adoption, risks, and decisions needed.
Transition successful solutions into documented, repeatable workflows that department teams can operate and improve independently.
Share reusable solutions across departments, contribute to company-wide AI standards and priorities, and escalate broader dependencies or blockers to the AI Transformation Office.
What success looks like in this role:
Finance AI initiatives deliver measurable improvements in productivity, cycle time, accuracy, data quality, or decision support.
The department has a clear, prioritized multi-year AI transformation roadmap and consistently delivers against it.
AI changes how teams and functions operate, not only how individual employees complete tasks. Finance teams spend less time gathering and formatting data and more time on analysis and business partnership.
Priority initiatives progress from opportunity to sustained adoption, with clear ownership at every stage.
AI-enabled workflows deliver measurable revenue, cost, time, quality, or strategic value.
Underperforming initiatives are stopped, redesigned, or deprioritized based on defined success measures.
Department teams can maintain and improve their AI-enabled workflows over time.
How you'll use AI in this role:
Embeds AI into systematic, repeatable, department-specific workflows.
Validates AI outputs before they reach stakeholders and identifies logical gaps, inaccuracies, and risks.
Actively seeks out emerging best practices and incorporates them into their approach.
Develops AI workflows that increase the effectiveness of the department's key contributors.
Creates documented AI-enabled workflows that department teams can operate and maintain independently.
What you'll bring:
8+ years driving technology-enabled business transformation, including department-wide or enterprise-wide initiatives; 5+ years leading complex implementations end to end; and 2+ years implementing AI-enabled solutions.
Hands-on experience building and deploying AI-enabled workflows, including prompt design, connecting AI tools to business data and systems, and configuring repeatable automations.
Familiarity with Finance teams and processes, including planning, forecasting, reporting, financial close, and internal controls.
Ability to work within Finance platforms such as Pigment and Omni, understand their data and workflow capabilities, and implement improvements in partnership with systems owners.
Experience testing and maintaining AI solutions, including validating outputs against source data, troubleshooting failures, and establishing human review, monitoring, and appropriate data safeguards.
Strong business judgment and stakeholder management, with the ability to prioritize opportunities, influence senior leaders, and drive cross-functional execution.
Strong change management skills, with a track record of driving sustained adoption and creating documented workflows that teams can operate independently.
