Full Job Description
Nimbus Consulting is seeking an experienced AI SME to support the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Cross-Cutting Initiative (CCI), designed to drive agency-wide collaboration, alignment, and understanding of the AI ecosystem across our client organization. The AI SME will play a key role in advancing the agency's infrastructure and governance framework for AI, ensuring that AI and Machine Learning (ML) solutions are responsibly designed, interoperable, and aligned with enterprise goals, data governance standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

AI Environment Analysis and Oversight
  • Analyze current and planned AI usage patterns across the agency.
  • Evaluate compatibility and integration of AI solutions with enterprise infrastructure.
  • Maintain a comprehensive view of the agency's AI landscape to support strategic decision-making.


Infrastructure and Governance Support
  • Provide technical guidance and governance support to project teams exploring or implementing AI solutions.
  • Contribute to the development and application of AI governance policies, including risk, ethics, and compliance frameworks.
  • Advise on AI system design and infrastructure alignment to ensure interoperability and scalability.


Technical Review and Compliance
  • Participate in and follow up with the Technical Review Board (TRB) on component reviews for IT and AI projects.
  • Support technical assessments to ensure compliance with enterprise architecture, security, and data governance standards.
  • Recommend improvements to ensure AI initiatives meet policy, performance, and regulatory expectations.


Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Foster cross-agency collaboration to enhance awareness and understanding of AI technologies and governance.
  • Engage with program teams, business stakeholders, and technical developers to align AI/ML initiatives with organizational priorities.
  • Communicate complex AI concepts in a clear, actionable manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Overall 18+ years of experience in technology and/or engineering-related domains.
  • 8+ years of experience in AI/ML architecture, data engineering, or enterprise technology strategy.
  • Experience developing or implementing AI governance frameworks within large organizations.
  • Strong understanding of federal data governance, privacy, and ethical AI principles.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-engagement skills, with the ability to work across multiple functional areas.
