We are seeking an AI Solutions Engineer - Integration & Deployment to join our MissionWorks team and build AI-enabled solutions that address customer mission needs and internal operational priorities.

The ideal candidate is a technically strong, hands-on engineer who can move from a problem statement to a working solution. This individual will build integrations, AI-enabled applications, automations, and operational solution components while working closely with the MissionWorks Solutions Executive, customer stakeholders, and technical delivery teams.

This role is for an engineer who can help move promising prototypes into secure, maintainable operational capability. The successful candidate can evaluate technical options, identify implementation risks, contribute to solution design, and work across the application, data, cloud, security, and deployment layers necessary for a complete solution. They are comfortable building and learning in conditions where not every requirement is established at the outset.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain AI-enabled applications, integrations, workflow automations, and solution prototypes for MissionWorks initiatives.
• Use Python to develop, test, debug, optimize, and maintain AI-enabled software, services, APIs, integrations, and deployment components; apply C++ where required by the solution environment or performance needs.
• Translate approved mission and business use cases into technical designs, development tasks, implementation plans, and working software.
• Build integrations with enterprise applications, APIs, cloud services, data sources, knowledge repositories, and workflow tools.
• Support the movement of validated proof-of-concepts into secure, scalable, and maintainable operational capabilities.
• Participate in discovery sessions, design workshops, customer demonstrations, user testing, and technical reviews to ensure solutions address real operational needs.
• Evaluate technical tradeoffs involving functionality, user experience, system integration, data quality, performance, security, reliability, and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot application, integration, data, and AI-solution issues; identify root causes; and recommend corrective actions.
• Contribute reusable code, integration patterns, technical documentation, implementation playbooks, and engineering standards for the MissionWorks portfolio.
• Collaborate with solution leaders, software engineers, data engineers, cloud teams, cybersecurity personnel, program managers, and customer stakeholders.
• Support solution estimation, technical planning, backlog refinement, sprint execution, release activities, and operational handoff.
• Provide technical guidance and peer support to other engineers as appropriate.
• Stay current on practical AI engineering, software development, cloud, integration, data, and secure deployment practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Experience and Job Skills:

• Two to five years of experience in software engineering, application development, AI engineering, data engineering, cloud engineering, automation, systems integration, or a related field.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Python is required.
• Experience with C++ is required, or the demonstrated ability to become productive in C++ quickly.
• Demonstrated experience building and deploying software applications, APIs, workflow automations, integrations, or data-enabled solutions.
• Experience working with APIs, web services, relational or NoSQL databases, structured and unstructured data, authentication, and system integration patterns.
• Practical experience or strong exposure to generative AI, large language models, AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation, model APIs, workflow orchestration, intelligent-document processing, machine learning, or comparable AI-enabled application capabilities.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with source control, testing, CI/CD, containerization, logging, debugging, and technical documentation.
• Evidence of personally building and deploying production software, prototypes, integrations, automation solutions, AI agents, or technical products is strongly preferred.
• Ability to evaluate an incomplete or ambiguous use case, identify key assumptions and dependencies, and propose a practical technical approach.
• Understanding of secure software-development practices, data protection, access controls, and responsible AI considerations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with resourcefulness and a bias toward action.
• Experience in federal, public-sector, healthcare, defense, intelligence, or another regulated environment is preferred.
• Experience interacting with customers, users, product stakeholders, or multidisciplinary delivery teams is preferred.

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree is required. Preferred field of study in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related field of study.
• Master's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

• Relevant technical certifications are preferred.
• Examples may include AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, Docker, DevOps, software-development, data, machine-learning, or AI-related certifications.

Communication Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts, implementation options, and delivery risks to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Ability to participate effectively in customer working sessions, design discussions, demonstrations, and technical reviews.
• Ability to write clear and concise technical content, including solution documentation, implementation guidance, technical designs, and status updates, in a highly confidential manner.
• Ability to receive and provide constructive feedback in a collaborative delivery environment.

Clearance Requirements:

• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.
• An active DoD Top Secret clearance is desired.

Travel:

• Travel may be required based on customer, program, and solution-delivery needs.

Environmental Requirements:

• Mainly a routine office environment.
• May be required to lift up to ten (10) pounds.
• Flexible in working extended hours.
