Job Description:

Overview:

As an AI Solutions Architect, you will serve as the technical authority within Chatham's AI Consulting Practice, a team focused on reimagining business processes and delivering custom AI-enabled solutions for clients. Working closely with consultants, engineers, and platform teams, you will ensure that solutions are architecturally sound, aligned with enterprise technology standards, and positioned for long-term supportability.

Central to this role is Onyx - Chatham's cloud-native SaaS platform built to modernize how clients manage financial risk across debt, derivatives, and real estate. Onyx represents Chatham's strategic technology foundation, and a core responsibility of this role is ensuring that custom software built by the AI Consulting Practice aligns with Onyx's architecture, standards, and services wherever possible. This includes identifying opportunities to leverage or extend existing Onyx capabilities rather than building in isolation, while preserving the practice's ability to move at the pace clients expect.

You will bridge the gap between the AI Consulting Practice and Chatham's core technology organization. You will regularly navigate the tension between rapid client delivery and long-term platform alignment, making pragmatic, well-reasoned architecture decisions that support both immediate client needs and Chatham's broader technology strategy.

In this role you will:

  • Act as the primary liaison between the AI Consulting Practice and the core Onyx engineering organization, translating practice needs into well-defined platform requests and maintaining a structured engagement model that supports effective collaboration.

  • Participate in early-stage scoping and design reviews for new client engagements, identifying architectural risks, security considerations, and alignment with Chatham's technology strategy before development begins.

  • Guide technology decisions related to resiliency, scalability, data residency, disaster recovery, and operational support requirements.

  • Define and promote authentication, authorization, secrets management, data classification, and access control practices aligned with Chatham's security and compliance standards.

  • Identify opportunities to leverage existing Onyx platform services or extend platform capabilities to meet practice needs, helping reduce duplication and encourage platform consistency.

  • Evaluate buy-versus-build technology decisions by considering business requirements, existing platform capabilities, vendor solutions, and long-term supportability.

  • Define and steward integration standards between AI Consulting Practice solutions and the Onyx platform, including API contracts, authentication patterns, and access control requirements.

  • Partner with platform, DevOps, and security teams to support infrastructure provisioning, environment setup, access approvals, and CI/CD implementation.

  • Bridge architectural considerations across Python/FastAPI/Azure and C#/.NET/PostgreSQL/TypeScript technology stacks, identifying effective integration and convergence opportunities.

  • Plan, prepare, and execute solution transition activities to the broader Chatham technology organization, ensuring solutions are documented, supportable, and operationally ready.

  • Provide architectural guidance and mentorship to project teams throughout the solution lifecycle.

  • Support the development of architecture standards, reusable patterns, and best practices that enable efficient delivery across multiple client engagements.

Your impact:

  • Serve as the architectural safeguard that enables the AI Consulting Practice to deliver innovative client solutions while maintaining alignment with Chatham's technology strategy, security requirements, and compliance standards.

  • Directly influence how AI-powered capabilities are designed, built, and delivered to clients across financial services, real estate, and corporate sectors.

  • Foster productive collaboration between consulting, engineering, platform, security, and DevOps teams to support scalable and sustainable technology solutions.

  • Establish architectural patterns and integration standards that increase efficiency and consistency as the AI Consulting Practice grows.

  • Help balance short-term client objectives with long-term platform goals, ensuring investments contribute to Chatham's strategic technology foundation.

  • Contribute to the continued evolution of Onyx by identifying opportunities to enhance platform capabilities and maximize the value of existing technology investments.

  • Improve solution maintainability, supportability, and operational readiness across the organization.

Contributors to your success:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.

  • 5+ years of experience in solutions architecture, enterprise architecture, software engineering, or related technical leadership roles with responsibility for architectural decision-making across multiple initiatives.

  • Experience designing and implementing cloud-native applications and services within Microsoft Azure environments, including technologies such as App Service, Functions, Cosmos DB, Blob Storage, and enterprise cloud infrastructure.

  • Working knowledge of Python and C#/.NET development frameworks sufficient to evaluate solution designs, review architectural approaches, and support cross-platform integrations.

  • Familiarity with TypeScript, React, and modern API-driven application architectures.

  • Experience designing authentication and authorization solutions, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), role-based access controls, and secrets management practices.

  • Understanding of large language model (LLM) integration patterns, including considerations related to security, governance, performance, prompt protection, output validation, and cost management.

  • Experience with CI/CD practices and tools such as GitHub Actions or comparable enterprise DevOps platforms.

  • Ability to navigate governance processes, collaborate across technical and business teams, and build strong working relationships with platform, security, and operational stakeholders.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience working in financial services, fintech, or other regulated industries is preferred.
