Job DescriptionRole SummaryAdvises departments on responsible, high-value adoption of enterprise AI: readiness assessment, use-case prioritization, governance aligned to the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, proof-of-concept delivery, and knowledge transfer so County staff can sustain AI capability independently. This is advisory/consulting and organizational-change work - application development is a downstream concern the Specialist coordinates on, not the core job. Currently one req on record; expect volume to grow as public-sector AI adoption matures, and watch for this profile splitting into separate Governance/Strategy vs. AI-Enablement variants.
Core Responsibilities- Conduct AI readiness and opportunity assessments across business and operational functions
- Identify, prioritize, and roadmap high-value AI use cases
- Establish governance and responsible-AI practices aligned to the NIST AI Risk Management Framework
- Design and oversee AI proofs of concept and pilots
- Evaluate AI outputs for accuracy, security, privacy, bias, and maintainability
- Establish prompt engineering, data-handling, and validation standards
- Facilitate workshops and stakeholder sessions across executive and technical audiences
- Build internal capability through structured knowledge transfer, documentation, and training curricula
- Define and measure AI adoption, business value, and ROI
RequirementsSkills Required- Enterprise AI platforms: Microsoft Copilot, Azure OpenAI, ChatGPT, Claude, Google Gemini
- NIST AI Risk Management Framework and responsible-AI/governance practices
- AI readiness assessment, use-case identification, and adoption change management
- Prompt engineering standards and reusable prompt/pattern libraries
- Power Platform / Power BI for workflow and productivity integration
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor) - beneficial, not core
- Executive- and technical-level briefing and documentation skills
Experience Required- 5+ years (within last 7) leading or supporting enterprise technology or digital-transformation initiatives
- 3+ years evaluating/implementing AI, generative AI, or intelligent automation solutions
- 2+ years developing AI strategy, readiness assessments, or governance recommendations
- 2+ years designing/delivering AI POCs, pilots, or production implementations, including validating AI-generated work
- 2+ years partnering with executive leadership and cross-functional technical teams
- 1+ year providing training, facilitation, or knowledge transfer
Education / Training- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, AI, Data Science, Business Analytics, Public Administration, Organizational Change Management, or related field
- Master's degree may substitute for one year of required general experience
