ResponsibilitiesAFSIM Analyst
Position SummarySeeking an experienced AFSIM Analyst to support the conversion of an existing U.S. Navy simulation environment into the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM). The analyst will work closely with simulation engineers, Navy stakeholders, and mission analysts to translate existing simulation models, scenarios, data, and workflows into an AFSIM-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze the current Navy simulation environment and develop an approach for migration to AFSIM.
- Convert existing simulation models, scenarios, entities, behaviors, and engagement logic into AFSIM.
- Develop and configure AFSIM scenarios, platforms, sensors, weapons, communications, and mission behaviors.
- Validate converted models and ensure functional and analytical equivalence where appropriate.
- Identify gaps between the legacy simulation environment and AFSIM and recommend technical solutions.
- Support integration of AFSIM with existing simulation tools, data sources, and government systems.
- Conduct simulation runs, analyze results, troubleshoot issues, and document findings.
- Work with government and contractor teams to define requirements, test plans, and acceptance criteria.
- Produce technical documentation, configuration artifacts, and analysis supporting the transition to AFSIM.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, operations research, or a related technical discipline.
- Relevant military simulation experience may be considered in lieu of some educational requirements.
- 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree; OR 0+ years relevant experience with a PhD.
- Relevant simulation/modeling experience, with demonstrated AFSIM experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with AFSIM and its modeling/simulation framework.
- Experience developing, configuring, or migrating military simulation environments.
- Understanding of U.S. Navy mission systems, platforms, sensors, weapons, and/or C4ISR concepts.
- Ability to interpret existing simulation architectures and translate them into AFSIM models.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with government and engineering teams.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience converting an existing Navy or DoD simulation environment to AFSIM.
- Experience with AFSIM scripting, scenario development, and model validation.
- Familiarity with constructive simulation, wargaming, mission-level modeling, or campaign analysis.
- Experience with Navy tactical operations, distributed simulation, or digital engineering.
- Software development experience in C++, Python, or related languages.
- Familiarity with systems engineering, verification and validation, and model accreditation processes.
Target Salary Range$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individuals experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
