Aeronautical Engineering Associate Manager for the Eglin Flight Test Team responsible for leading and managing a cross-functional team supporting Developmental and Operational F-16 Flight Testing and Aircraft T-2 Modifications at Eglin AFB, FL. The Test Manager will be responsible for planning and implementing flight test programs, coordinating test program activities with maintenance, manufacturing, test site resources, engineering system specialists, and other organizations; ensuring configuration management practices and maintaining aircraft test schedules. The candidate will support Flight Test Instrumentation systems with technical planning, system integration, and modification of unique flight test aircraft.

The selected candidate will provide leadership for a small team of engineers and technicians on the Eglin Flight Test Team. Responsibilities will include career mentoring, administrative duties, performance assessments, identifying opportunities for growth and development, managing training activities, behavioral actions, compensation, and awards/recognition. Responsibilities will be split between managerial duties and execution of technical work with the Flight Test Team.

The candidate will represent the organization as a technical contact for the Test and Evaluation directorate. The applicant will interact with senior external personnel on significant technical matters requiring extensive coordination between multiple organizations. Above average oral and written communication skills are required. Exceptional planning and coordinating skills are also required.

**Alternate shift, overtime, travel and weekend work may be required to support mission & staffing needs.

Basic Qualifications

Fighter aircraft configuration management, sustainment, maintenance, or production experience.

Extensive knowledge of F-16 flight testing to include avionics maintenance and weapons systems.

Exceptional planning and coordinating skills are required.

Experience in USAF maintenance activities and procedures, and T-2 modification processes.
  • Experience with flight test of military aircraft
  • Experience with completing modifications of avionics/mission systems and/or vehicle/utility systems
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings

Leadership experience required to manage an integrated team within the USAF.

Must be physically able to climb an F-16 boarding ladder and spend extended time seated in F-16 crew station.

Must be a US. Citizen. Position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Must have a final Secret clearance to start with the ability to obtain a Top Secret SAR/SAP clearance.

Desired Skills

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.

Experience with execution and/or managing aspects of flight test such as; Flight Operations, Maintenance, Configuration Management, Aircraft Modifications, Avionics Flight Test, Flight Science Flight Test, Instrumentation and Data Processing.

Working knowledge of technical orders, military flight operations, and maintenance concepts.

Specific knowledge of F-16 avionics/mission systems, and vehicle/utility systems.

Fault isolation and/or problem analysis at the subsystem level.

Familiarity with USAF T-2 modification process.

Ability to interface with all levels of project management is desired.
  • The applicant must have a strong customer focus, reinforced with excellent communication skills and interpersonal skill. Above average oral and written communication skills are desired.

Ability to work to constraints of time and budget.

Ability to adapt to quickly changing tasks and requirements and the ability to learn new skills quickly.

Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate complex issues with a variety of stakeholders.

Possess general knowledge of other related aircraft engineering disciplines.

Excellent customer skills (listening, understanding, questioning in a non-threatening manner, differentiating between customer's wants and needs).

Self-motivated, organized, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, possess an ability to solve application and technical problems requiring attention to detail.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $94400.00 - $175200.00

The salary range for this position is as listed on the requisition. Please note that the salary information listed is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market(work location) and business considerations when extending an offer.

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
