DescriptionResponsibilitiesThe
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, for Hillcrest Family Services MHC in Dubuque, IA, the primary responsibilities include providing specialized and advanced direct and indirect client care. Addition, you will:
- Review all cases referred to by therapists and/or other medical practitioners
- Perform initial evaluations and follow-up care for medication management clients
- Formulate diagnosis(es) of acute and chronic disease
- Complete paperwork/dictation within 24 hours from service date
- Administer medications and other therapeutic means, necessary to implement treatment within the scope of licensure
- Provide education to patients and families around issues related to the patient's diagnosis, illness, and/or treatment
- Other duties as assigned.
RequirementsEducation- Graduate of an approved School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Program
Experience: - Experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
- Clinical experience providing mental health services, preferably in a community-based or outpatient setting.
Knowledge/Skills:- Strong assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills.
- Possessing the theoretical knowledge and skills involved in the delivery of mental health care services
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of ethical and legal standards governing mental health practice.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing caseloads, client needs, and organizational priorities.
Licenses/Certifications:- Must hold current DEA certification in order to prescribe medications.
- Licensed in the state of Iowa
