This position is responsible for provision of Advanced Practice Provider services to patients in an outpatient and inpatient setting. The position will work as part of a care team at both the UNLV Health outpatient clinic as well as Inpatient hospital settings. Our patient care model includes faculty, residents, and students.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS - Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree
- License in the State of Nevada as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or ability to be licensed prior to the start date
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) is preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES - Works in conjunction with Physicians, administrative management, nursing and other interprofessional team members to facilitate patient care and management throughout the health care system
- Exercises independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of medical processes and procedures commensurate with training and experience
- Performs and documents comprehensive health histories and physical assessments, to include initiation of CPR or other appropriate emergency therapy as needed
- Formulates diagnoses, identifies problems and health risk profiles, documents and clearly communicates with other members of the health care team
- Performs, orders, and interprets diagnostic studies, such as x-rays and laboratory tests, in consultation with peers and colleagues
- Assumes a proactive role in patient/family education and patient/family satisfaction in the practice setting
- Assumes personal accountability to enhance the patient experience by using high quality, patient satisfaction-directed interactions/tools/activities in the execution of duties
- Always interacts with patients and families in a compassionate and respectful manner, at all times
- Participates in training of staff, students, and residents; and as requested by Department Chair, Pediatric Surgery Division Chief, supervisors, mentors, and provides education on areas of expertise
