POSITION SUMMARY
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is primarily responsible for accurately and safely interpreting the physician's orders/prescriptions and carrying them out. The APP must effectively communicate with patients while showing compassion for their individual situations. The APP must be organized and able to prioritize tasks in a demanding work environment. This position will report to the APP lead.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
- The APP will assist in outpatient patient care and provide a seamless transition through continuum of care.
- Collaborate with supervising physician on patient care.
- Streamline communications with referring physicians both internal and external to Sano.
- Conduct comprehensive appraisals of patients' health status by taking health histories and performing physical examinations in clinical area.
- Thoroughly documenting visits.
- Creating patient care plans and contributing to existing ones.
- Order laboratory and tests.
- Interpret laboratory and test results.
- Prescribing medicine and other treatments.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise and expanded knowledge through patient care activities.which may include diagnosis and management of a wide range of health problems.
- Confer with collaborating physician and other health professionals in area of clinical
- expertise.
- Provide formal education to both internal and external groups pertinent to area of
- specialty.
- Participate in quality improvement and/or research initiatives for specific patient population as appropriate.
- Provides comprehensive teaching strategies for patients and their families.
- Complete appropriate CME, maintain MO and KS licenses and DEA numbers.
- Participates in the shared on-call rotation for advanced practice providers, providing patient care coverage after hours, on weekends, and during holidays as assigned.
- Attends mandatory full staff and clinical meetings and acknowledges receipt of and reviews minutes if absent.

COMPETENCIES/SKILLS
- Surgical Intervention
- Understanding of Internal Classification of Diseases (ICD) and Common Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- General computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office Applications (i.e. - Word and Excel)
- Data Entry
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong Customer Service Skills
- EMR experience (eClinical Works preferred)
- Computer software/hardware troubleshooting
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- State Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (or eligible for License in MO and KS)
- 1-2 Years of clinic experience (preferred)
