Department: PsychiatryJob Title: Advanced Practice Provider (NP, PMHNP, PA)/Psychiatry/Pueblo/Senior Instructor of Clinical PracticeJob Summary:The Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Pueblo (CMHHIP) is a 516-bed acute care psychiatric hospital that provides inpatient behavioral health services for adults, adolescents and geriatric patients. CMHHIP is a forensic hospital that serves individuals with pending criminal charges who require evaluations of competency, individuals who have been found to be incompetent to proceed (restoration treatment) and individuals found to be not guilty by reason of insanity by Colorado's criminal courts.
CMHHIP is located in southern Colorado on a 300-acre campus. This position will be required to be in person in Pueblo, CO and is not located on Anschutz Medical Campus.
The Medical Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides medical care to the patients of the hospital. Under the supervision of a Staff Physician (MD,DO), the Medical APP will be responsible for providing medical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides medical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients. Performs preadmission screening of patients being referred by outside agencies; admission health assessments and writes admission orders.
- Evaluates and treats patients scheduled for medical clinic. Performs annual health assessments. Performs urgent evaluations and treats unscheduled patients in medical clinical or on patient's unit and arranges disposition.
- Works with various members of the psychiatry treatment team to engage the patient in the treatment of their medical illnesses. Collaborates with other members of the medical staff and outside consulting physicians in the evaluation and treatment of patients. Refers patients to other medical providers and/or hospitals as necessary.
- Communicates effectively with team members and other hospital staff.
- Follows proper documentation policies including medical necessity for patient treatments. Remains up-to-date with documentation as described in policy.
- Provides staff education, instruction and mentoring. Serves on various committees to assist the hospital in its mission and goals.
- Responds to medical emergencies and code zeros within the hospital while on duty.
- Complies with Medical Staff Bylaws and Medical Staff Rules & Regulations.
- Maintains active clinical staff privileges and current license.
- Performs other duties as reasonably requested.
- Provides clinical coverage to colleagues as needed.
Work Location:On-Site - this role is on site at the Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Pueblo.
Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Masters degree in discipline that corresponds to required licensure
- Current Colorado NP, PMHNP, PA license and corresponding board certification
- 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience. Applicable Clinical Rotations, Fellowships or Residencies may be considered to meet this criteria.
A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the master's degree on a year for year basis.

HIRING RANGE:$139,390 - $139,393
