Full Job Description
POSITION: Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) Ambulatory Clinic & Obesity Medicine

DEPARTMENT: Clinic

HOURS: 40 hours per week/Exempt

ANNUAL SALARY: $126,027.20 - $170,268.80

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP), either a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant/Associate (PA), provides comprehensive, evidence-based patient care in a blended role supporting obesity medicine/medical weight management and ambulatory clinic practice.

The position dedicates approximately 17 hours per week to obesity medicine and medical weight management and approximately one and one-half days per week to the ambulatory clinic, serving as an extender to a family practice physician. The APP will also provide services at the Thrive location in Marshall approximately once per month and participate in the Walk-In Clinic weekend rotation, currently scheduled at approximately one weekend in four.

The APP evaluates, diagnoses, treats, and provides ongoing follow-up care for patients within their professional scope of practice, granted clinical privileges, organizational policies, and applicable state and federal requirements. The APP works collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, dietitians, behavioral health professionals, pharmacists, specialists, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate high-quality, patient-centered care.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/TRAINING:

NP: Master's or doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. PA: Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate program or educational preparation meeting applicable certification and licensure requirements.
Current and unrestricted applicable state licensure or eligibility for licensure; current national board certification; prescriptive authority and DEA registration or eligibility to obtain them; current BLS certification. Advanced education or training in obesity medicine/weight management is preferred.

SKILL(S):

Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, treatment-planning, patient education, and decision-making skills. Knowledge of evidence-based obesity treatment, anti-obesity pharmacotherapy, chronic disease management, preventive care, and general ambulatory medicine.
Ability to communicate about weight and obesity using respectful, person-first, non-stigmatizing language; collaborate effectively across disciplines; manage competing priorities; use the electronic health record proficiently; and recognize situations requiring physician consultation, referral, urgent evaluation, or escalation of care.

EXPERIENCE:

Previous NP or PA experience in obesity medicine, medical weight management, primary care, family medicine, internal medicine, endocrinology, or another relevant ambulatory specialty is preferred. Experience prescribing and monitoring anti-obesity pharmacotherapy and working in an interdisciplinary weight-management program is preferred. Hospital or integrated health system experience is desirable.
