Why Athens
Athens, known as "The Friendly City," is the county seat of McMinn County. It offers small-town living with a low cost of living and no Tennessee state income tax on wages, while sitting about an hour from both Knoxville and Chattanooga and roughly two hours from Atlanta.
You will find a walkable historic downtown, Tennessee Wesleyan University, and easy access to the Cherokee National Forest and the Hiwassee and Ocoee Rivers for hiking, paddling, and fishing. As a community hospitalist here, you will know your colleagues and nurses by name and see the direct impact of your care on the people you live alongside.
