Full Job Description
This Advanced Practice Provider position offers a unique opportunity to practice across Pediatric Rheumatology and the Pediatric Infusion Center, combining independent ambulatory practice with collaborative care for children with complex and chronic conditions. The APP will spend approximately 50% of their effort supporting Pediatric Rheumatology, including four half-day clinic sessions per week, and 50% supporting patients receiving infusion therapies across a broad range of pediatric specialties.

The position is Monday-Friday and generally structured as four 10-hour shifts per week, providing a consistent weekday schedule. This role offers the opportunity to develop expertise in pediatric rheumatology while also working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams throughout UVA Health Children's.

Pediatric clinical experience is preferred.
Experience in pediatric rheumatology, infusion therapy, or the care of children with complex or chronic conditions is preferred but not required.
New graduate Advanced Practice Providers will be considered.
Strong interest in developing expertise in pediatric rheumatology and infusion-based care.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams.

1) Administration
Supports efficient clinical operations across Pediatric Rheumatology and the Pediatric Infusion Center.
Collaborates with physicians, nursing, pharmacy, scheduling, and other interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
Completes required clinical documentation, orders, and other administrative responsibilities in accordance with organizational standards.
Participates in activities to improve patient access, clinical workflows, and efficient use of Infusion Center resources.
2) Professional
Maintains required licensure, certification, credentialing, and continuing education for advanced practice.
Demonstrates collaborative, patient- and family-centered practice across multiple pediatric specialties.
Participates in professional development and educational opportunities related to pediatric rheumatology, infusion therapies, and the care of children with complex and chronic conditions.
Serves as a clinical resource for patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
3) Clinical
Provides ambulatory care for pediatric rheumatology patients through approximately four half-day clinic sessions per week.
Evaluates, diagnoses, treats, and manages pediatric rheumatology patients in collaboration with the Pediatric Rheumatology physician and interdisciplinary team.
Provides clinical support for children receiving infusions and other therapies in the Pediatric Infusion Center.
Assesses patients before, during, and following infusions as clinically indicated and responds to infusion reactions, changes in clinical status, and other acute patient needs.
Supports patients receiving therapies managed by multiple pediatric specialties, including Hematology-Oncology, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, Dermatology, Neurology, Nephrology, Cardiology, Immunology, and Endocrinology.
Collaborates with referring specialty teams to ensure safe, coordinated, and timely care for patients receiving infusion therapies.
Provides patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and plans of care.
4) Leadership
Promotes collaboration and communication among Rheumatology, the Infusion Center, and referring specialty teams.
Identifies opportunities to improve clinical workflows, patient access, safety, and care coordination.
Participates in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives relevant to Rheumatology and infusion care.
Supports evidence-based practice and contributes to the development and standardization of clinical processes.
Serves as an advanced practice clinical resource and supports education of learners and interdisciplinary team members.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree.

Experience: Department and unit specific.

Licensure: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, and Physician Associate) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

The pay range for this role is $116,123.00 - $171,163.20 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
