The Medical College of Wisconsin's
Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide specialty medical care within defined scope of practice under the supervision of a licensed physician and in accordance with MCW/FMLH/CHW policies and procedures. This position is located at
the Cancer Center at Moorland Reserve Health Center. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.
In this role you will be responsible for the following:- Collaborates with interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of conditions requiring Hematology/Oncology intervention in outpatient environment as a member of the HemOnc outpatient service.
- Writes accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders.
- Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicates and documents information.
- Privileged to perform procedures beyond core as identified by the Hematology/Oncology services.
- Facilitates and communicates with patients, family and staff to promote continuity of care across the continuum of care.
- Attends required training and meets key regulatory requirements, including those of the privileging institution, CMS, and the Joint Commission.
- Evaluates quality outcomes for the patients receiving care of this team through participation in the development of quality indicators and outcomes dashboard.
- Acquires information on the most current development and trends in the Physician Assistant field and/or Nurse Practitioner field, through educational programs, in-services, professional associates, and current literature.
- Participates in ongoing clinical research projects related to the field of hematology/oncology.
- Provides oversight of infusion services and manages treatment related adverse events.
Core Advanced Practice Responsibilities:- Performs comprehensive histories and physical exams, identifies normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive and psychosocial status.
- Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Develops pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans.
- Monitors effectiveness of plan of care.
- Educates patients on disease and treatment plans.
- Performs procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed.
- Documents within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and completes other necessary documents.
- Collaborates and/or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate.
- Educates, counsels, and assists patients and families regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors.

Reports to:Schedule:- Monday- Friday, 8:00-5:00
- 1.0 FTE, full-time Salaried (Exempt)
- Scheduling flexibility is required to provide for an appropriate level of patient care coverage.
- Infusion coverage may require some holiday and/or early morning/early evening hours.
Preferred Experience: - Five years of experience as a Physician Assistant/ Nurse Practitioner.
- 1-2 years in a clinic or hospital environment working with hematology/oncology patients.
Minimum Education:- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse: Master's Degree or higher in Nursing from a nationally accredited organization.
- Physician Assistant: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA-accredited organization.
Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner - Wisconsin Advance Practice Nurse Prescriber License
- Certification as Advance Practice Nurse
- Certification as Adult Care NP and/or Acute Care NP preferred
- CITI Certification to be completed within 90 days of hire
Physician Assistant- CITI Certification to be completed within 90 days of hire
