Job SummaryOur Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is expanding, offering an exciting opportunity to join a highly collaborative and dynamic critical care team. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Pediatric Acute Care Advanced Practice Professional, to provide comprehensive care to critically ill pediatric patients. This role is ideal for clinicians who thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment and are committed to delivering exceptional, family-centered care.
The PICU Acute Care APP plays a vital role in managing complex patient populations, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities*- Coordinate and manage care of critically ill pediatric patients in the intensive care setting
- Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations
- Collect, analyze, and interpret diagnostic data (labs, imaging, and clinical studies)
- Order tests and prescribe medications within scope of practice
- Perform diagnostic, therapeutic, and minor procedures
- Collaborate with attending physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of patient status, evaluations, and treatments
- Facilitate transfers across levels of care, including discharge planning and coordination
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental projects
- Promote a collaborative, team-based approach to patient-centered care
Required Qualifications* Required Qualifications Nurse Practitioner
- Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan.
- Current specialty certification to practice as an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
- AHA approved BLS certification and PALS
- Current DEA registration required
- Minimum of 2 years of pediatric acute or critical care clinical experience
Required Qualification Physician Assistant
- Satisfactory completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
- State of Michigan Controlled Substance License Required
- Current DEA registration required
- AHA approved BLS certification and PALS
- Minimum of one year of clinical experience in an acute or critical pediatric care unit, or completion of an accredited pediatric critical care residency or fellowship program.
