Job Description

SAIC is seeking an Acquisition Systems Engineer to join the Air Force, Space and Intelligence Business Group (AFSI) in our Chantilly, VA office. AFSI provides specialized acquisition, engineering, analysis and operations support to a variety of Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD) customers. Our program supports the research and development of the generation after next of national security-related systems based in space, in the air and on the ground.

AFSI has an opening for an Acquisition Systems Engineer to work closely with a diverse team of engineers and scientist developing and implementing the future ground-based architecture. This position provides Acquisition discipline to an organization supporting the research and development of revolutionary ground-based systems. This position supports the development and execution of program activities acquiring cutting edge capabilities and prototypes.

Unique Duties:
  • Work with government technical and contracts staff developing acquisition strategies and acquisition documentation enabling program development and implementation
  • Work with government technical and contracts staff developing program acquisition packages
  • Support the review, vetting, and approval of acquisition documents such as a sole source justification, CDRLs, and Statement of Work (SOW)
  • Draft common acquisition artifacts such as sole source justification, statements of work, Contract Data Requirements Lists, In Scope Determinations, and proposal evaluation criteria
  • Draft contractual documents for government contracts officer review and signature
  • Provide acquisition advisory services during technical and cost evaluations of proposals
  • Effectively work with development teams to track technical progress, identify blockers to progress, and assess technical solutions
  • Enter funding information into customer's financial tools
  • Support Agile SAFe program development processes and activities

  • Effective interpersonal skills and strong briefing and communications skills
  • Expertise and experience with the IC acquisition cycle, acquisition documentation and budgetary processes
  • Working knowledge of FAR, NAM, Contract types and acquisition processes, tools
  • Knowledge of R&D and/or space systems acquisition
  • Excellent skills with MS Office Suite


Desired Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies
  • DAWIA Level III Certification in Contracting/Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting (FAC-C) (Professional)
  • Experience building architectural representations to inform management decision making
  • Experience with Agile development practices and SAFe processes
