A Snapshot of Your Day As the Accounting Team Lead - General Ledger & Closing, you will play a critical role in ensuring continuity of key accounting and financial reporting processes across North America. You will partner closely with regional stakeholders, business leaders, auditors, and finance teams to deliver accurate and compliant financial statements while driving standardization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is part of Siemens Energy's long-term succession and capability-building strategy, designed to strengthen our accounting organization, reduce key-person dependencies, and build strength for future leadership needs. You will have the opportunity to develop expertise across complex accounting topics, local regulatory requirements, and digital transformation initiatives.
How You'll Make an Impact- Lead and provide oversight for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities across North American legal entities, ensuring timely, accurate, complete, and compliant financial reporting in accordance with IFRS, Local GAAP, Siemens Energy policies, and internal accounting standards.
- Serve as a key contributor to business continuity and succession planning within the Accounting organization by building deep expertise in critical General Ledger, closing, and financial reporting processes, strengthening documentation and controls, and ensuring effective knowledge transfer and organizational resilience.
- Identify and implement opportunities to standardize accounting and closing processes across North America, improve controls and reporting quality, reduce process complexity, and establish scalable ways of working that enhance efficiency and consistency across the organization.
- Drive automation, digitalization, and continuous improvement initiatives across General Ledger and financial close processes, leveraging data analytics, Power BI, Power Query, Alteryx, RPA, and emerging technologies to improve reporting accuracy, reduce manual activities, and enable more efficient decision-making.
- Partner with business stakeholders, Operations, Tax, Treasury, Controlling, and other Finance functions to resolve complex accounting matters and support statutory reporting, external and internal audits, internal controls, regulatory requirements, and financial reporting compliance across North America.
- Mentor and develop accounting team members while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement. Build strong relationships with management, auditors, and cross-functional stakeholders while providing insights and recommendations that strengthen the overall effectiveness of the Accounting organization.
What You Bring- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA or equivalent professional accounting designation is preferred.
- 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant experience with General Ledger, financial close, financial reporting, and accounting governance responsibilities.
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, Local GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and complex month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, with the ability to address complex accounting matters and ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
- Demonstrated experience working effectively with auditors, senior management, and cross-functional stakeholders in a multinational environment; experience within the energy, manufacturing, engineering, industrial, or other complex global organizations is preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office applications, with experience leading automation, digital transformation, process standardization, or continuous improvement initiatives. Knowledge of Power BI, Power Query, Alteryx, RPA, data analytics, or similar technologies is highly preferred, along with experience supporting statutory and regulatory reporting across North America.
