Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Property Accounting Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions related to real estate properties, and compliance with generally accepted accounting standards. The Property Accounting Manager will work closely with other members of the accounting department, property management, leasing, finance, tax and external auditors to ensure accurate financial statements and timely reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the accounting of all real estate properties, including quarterly and annual account reconciliations.


  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of property accountants, ensuring deadlines are met, and providing guidance on complex accounting matters.


  • Prepare and review journal entries and general ledger adjustments.


  • Review manual adjustments to tenant accounts


  • Supervise the recovery billing process including common area maintenance (CAM) charges, utilities, and other recoverable costs as outlined in lease agreements.


  • Collaborate with property management, finance, and leasing teams to ensure smooth and accurate financial operations.


  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in property accounting operations.


Qualifications:

  • Education:


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA preferred.


  • Experience:


  • 5+ years of experience in property or real estate accounting


  • 2+ years of experience managing or leading a team.


  • Skills & Knowledge:


  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.


  • In-depth knowledge of real estate accounting, lease administration, and property management


  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, RealPage).


  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to interpret complex financial data.


  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
