Full Job Description
This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Accounting Operations and is responsible for accounting operations within Trade Vendors COGS & AP in McKesson's shared services Accounting, Reporting, and Compliance operations (ARC) team. The Accounting Manager oversees and performs period-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, fluctuation analysis, and related reporting, while partnering with Business Units and stakeholders across North America and Canada.

The role provides oversight and support to the Virtual Team by reviewing work, managing escalations, analyzing exceptions, and driving timely resolution of outstanding items. It also supports SOX compliance, internal and external audit requests, and continuous improvement of controls and accounting processes.

Beyond core operations, the Accounting Manager will help advance ARC's transformation by leveraging technology, analytics, automation, and AI to modernize processes, improve reporting, and strengthen the integrity of general ledger information. While the primary scope is Trade Vendors COGS & AP, the role may also support broader accounting, reporting, control, or transformation initiatives across McKesson.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and develop strong partnerships with all facets of the organization
  • Perform and review period-end close accounting activities and ensure deadlines are met
  • Review journal entries prepared by the Virtual Team and supporting documentation
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and reports prepared by the Virtual Team
  • Oversee preparation and review of period-end reporting deliverables
  • Coordinate tasks performed by the Virtual Team to ensure quality service delivery and mitigate risks
  • Provide feedback and support escalations raised by the Virtual Team
  • Provide monthly flux analysis explanations for specific general ledger accounts and lead related discussions with senior management while tailoring communications to the appropriate audience in a clear, concise format
  • Generate reports from multiple systems and perform in-depth analysis, as needed
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and drive process improvements
  • Provide accounting support to various stakeholders and multiple functions across multiple Business Units
  • Support broader McKesson initiatives as business needs evolve
  • Review and update applicable Statement of Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and policies
  • Analyze complex accounting and operational issues, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions that improve accuracy, control effectiveness, and process sustainability
  • Ensure compliance with applicable SOX requirements, internal controls, and company policies


Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting or related field required


Minimum Requirements
  • 7+ years of accounting experience
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred

  • Experience documenting accounting processes and understanding how those processes impact the business
  • Proven ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a highly ambiguous, evolving environment, including during large-scale transformations, process redesign, or changes in ownership models
  • Experience leveraging analytics, automation, or AI-enabled tools to improve accounting processes preferred
  • Experience with BlackLine, Power BI, ServiceNow, or similar tools preferred
