Full Job Description
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting activities of both the IPP and 3rd party Asset Management projects. They will be responsible for reviewing and conducting financial transactions, account statements, reconciling accounts receivable, and resolving bank discrepancies. They will write accurate financial reports to discuss with the senior management, respond to the team's inquiries and concerns, and strategize to improve financial processes.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Ensure technical compliance for a variety of accounting topics under both US GAAP and IFRS, including complex areas such as derivatives, business combinations and purchase accounting.
  2. Prepare and issue monthly and quarterly financial reports, including audited financial statements.
  3. Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable and general accounting functions in partnership with dedicated teams for client projects.
  4. Ensure all accounting practices are following legal guidelines and accounting principles.
  5. Provide monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses and reporting packages as needed for clients and for Exus and for consolidated audits.
  6. Ensure compliance filings are submitted on time.
  7. Assist in the preparation of budgets and cash flow forecasts.
  8. Manage day-to-day contact with multiple complex clients.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller such as creating internal controls and policies and providing reporting for GAAP financial reporting.


Education and Experience Requirements

  1. BS degree in accounting; preference for candidates with an MBA or advanced degree; Expert knowledge of accounting and financial principles, regulations, and best practices.
  2. 7+ years' experience of accounting experience required; 3+ years in the audit function of either a Big 4 or large regional CPA firm highly preferred; public accounting experience highly preferred.
  3. Past experience as a people manager required.
  4. Past demonstrated experience building complex financial reporting packages required.
  5. Technical knowledge of US GAAP or current leasing standards required.
  6. Understanding of tax laws and government guidelines pertaining to energy and corporate investments highly preferred.
  7. Experience with the preparation of annual audited financial statements including footnotes.
  8. Ability to interpret complex agreements and determine appropriate accounting treatment.
  9. Experience managing simultaneous complex activities in a high-growth, start-up environment; experience managing junior employees.
  10. Wind and/or solar energy project development, renewable energy industry and partnership experience a plus.
