Are you a strategic thinker who thrives on ownership, accountability, and driving performance? I'm looking for a proactive, confident, and solution-oriented Accounting Manager who can lead with structure, improve systems, and elevate the team-not just manage it.
This isn't a role for someone who waits to be told what to do. This is for a natural leader who sees the big picture, makes independent decisions, and takes full responsibility for the success of the accounting function. You'll have the space and authority to build, lead, and improve-but you must be ready to own it.
Who You Are
- You lead with confidence and structure, and you expect excellence from yourself and your team.
- You're a builder-of processes, of people, of performance.
- You look ahead, identify risks, and solve problems before they escalate.
- You hold yourself and others accountable and follow through on commitments.
- You're energized by driving results, not just maintaining status quo.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Oversight
- Oversee accurate, GAAP-compliant monthly, quarterly, and annual financials.
- Manage the entire close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Analyze financial data to drive insight and decision-making.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Collaborate on annual budgets and cash flow forecasting.
- Ensure financial goals align with departmental and organizational strategy.
- Monitor budget variances and recommend corrective actions proactively.
Team Leadership
- Provide direct supervision, coaching, and accountability for the accounting staff.
- Set expectations, monitor performance, and build a culture of execution and growth.
- Develop internal SOPs and train team members for cross-functional coverage.
Process & System Optimization
- Own and improve accounting systems and workflows.
- Leverage tools like QuickBooks, NetSuite, or other ERPs for automation and control.
- Identify inefficiencies and implement scalable, repeatable processes.
Client & Internal Collaboration
- Serve as a trusted financial liaison for client engagements.
- Partner with the tax team to align reporting with strategic tax planning.
- Support the CEO and Director of Ops with clear, accurate financial updates.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Solid understanding of US GAAP and accounting compliance requirements.
- Proven experience managing accounting teams and improving operations.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks, Excel, and accounting/ERP systems.
- CPA or strong CPA-track preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication-you explain the "why" behind the numbers.
This Role Is for You If You:
- Want to own the department and make it better-not just keep it running.
- Are comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
- Lead with both structure and autonomy-you don't need to be micromanaged, and you don't micromanage others.
- Are committed to long-term results, not short-term appearances.
- Are okay staying late when needed to meet deadlines and make sure nothing slips.
What's In It for You
- A remote-friendly, flexible environment with high expectations and high trust
- The opportunity to build and run your own department
- A supportive leadership team that values your ideas and input
- Competitive salary, health benefits, 401(k) with match, and PTO
