The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting. The Accounting Manager ensures the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records, manages financial reporting, and ensures compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Job Title: Accounting Manager

Location: College Station, Tx.

Department: Finance/Accounting

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Financial Reporting:
  • Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory requirements.
  1. General Ledger Management:
  • Oversee the general ledger operations, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  1. Accounts Payable and Receivable:
  • Manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate processing.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for the company's operations.
  1. Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts.
  • Analyze variances between actual results and budget/forecast and provide insights.
  1. Internal Controls:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets.
  • Conduct periodic reviews to ensure compliance with established controls and recommend improvements.
  1. Audit and Compliance:
  • Coordinate and manage the annual audit process with external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and other statutory requirements.
  1. Team Management:
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
  1. System and Process Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of accounting software and systems.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
