DescriptionJOB DESCRIPTION The Accountant I will perform complex work involved in agency accounting; Review all general ledger accounts to make sure that all entries are recorded accurately and according to GAAP. Assist in payroll and accounts payable processes to ensure accuracy. The ideal candidate will also assist the accounting team with the development and maintenance of financial reporting systems to ensure integrity of finances and maintain a regular backup of accounting data and worksheets. Answer any questions regarding the organization's policies and procedures. The Accountant I will work on site at assigned location(s).
COMPENSATION$33.66 - $43.83 per hour. Nonexempt; 40 hours/week; Eligible for overtime. Compensation is based on education and experience.
REPORTS TOAccounting Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS2 years' experience in GL analysis and account reconciliation. Working knowledge of Excel is required and familiarity with other office programs is preferred. Associate in accounting or finance is required but can be substituted with 5 years of experience.
Criminal record clearance; proof of authorization to work in the United States as required by Immigration and Reform Act of 1986. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Assists in the development and maintenance of financial reporting systems to ensure integrity of finances based on sound accounting procedures and controls.
- Review agency payroll, allocations and prepare budget to actual reports.
- Review and reconcile intercompany payroll allocations.
- Monitors grant and contract receivables and work with funding sources to ensure that payments are received.
- Assist with agency audits.
- Prepare compliance reports.
- Prepare journal entries in the accounting software.
- Reviews and reconciles all related General Ledger accounts monthly to ensure that all entries are recorded accurately and according to GAAP.
- Other duties as assigned.

See well enough to read data on a computer screen and text in written documents; perform extensive computer keyboard operations.
