Full Job Description
About the team and this role:
This role reports to the Sales & Marketing Manager. Inkle serves 2,000+ startups and SMBs across the US, and we're growing our sales team to keep up. Marketing will send you inbound leads, and you'll own everything after that, plus outbound (email, calling, LinkedIn, and events). Your focus is turning startups and SMBs into Inkle customers.
You choose where you work. Join us at our San Francisco office, relocate to SF, or work remotely from anywhere in the US or Canada. If you're remote, we'll get you a WeWork or coworking desk near you.
Responsibilities:
Full-cycle sales: own deals from first call to signed contract. Run discovery, demos, proposals, follow-ups, and close.
Inbound conversion: work every lead marketing sends you, quickly. Speed matters and we'll measure it.
Outbound prospecting: build and run your own pipeline through email, calling, and LinkedIn, targeting founders, business owners and finance leads at SMBs.
Local presence: find and show up at business events, industry meetups, and startup events in your city and region. Represent Inkle in person and come back with meetings booked.
Partnerships: build relationships with banks, law firms, accelerators, payroll and HR providers, and other service providers who can send businesses our way.
AI and tooling: use AI to the max. Research accounts, write first drafts, prep for calls, and keep your pipeline clean at speed. You'll work daily in Attio, Clay, Origami, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
Pipeline and forecasting: keep Attio accurate and up to date at all times. Report on pipeline, conversion rates, and forecast every week without being asked.
Customer feedback loop: tell product and marketing what customers are asking for, what objections you hear, and why deals are lost.
Team collaboration: work closely with the rest of the sales team, marketing in Bengaluru, India, and our customer success and product teams, so handoffs are clean and nothing falls through the cracks.
Who we're looking for:
2 to 4 years of B2B sales experience, preferably in SaaS, fintech, or financial services. Selling to SMB owners or finance teams is a strong plus.
A track record of hitting or beating quota. Be ready to show us the numbers.
Comfortable doing your own prospecting. You don't wait for leads to show up.
Hands-on experience with sales tools and CRMs (Attio, Clay, Origami, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, etc.). HubSpot or Lightfield is fine too, as long as you pick up new tools fast.
An understanding of how startups and SMBs buy, and what keeps their owners up at night.
Strong AI tool leverage. Speed matters here and you need to be comfortable using AI to move faster.
Extreme proactiveness. This is the number one trait we're looking for. We won't micromanage you. You must be a self-starter, keep your own calendar full, and take care of things without being asked.
Very high attention to detail. Customers notice a wrong name, a wrong number, or a missed follow-up.
Excellent written and spoken English, and a willingness to overcommunicate without being asked.
Good at building relationships across cultures and time zones. Much of our team is in Bengaluru and you'll work with them every day.
Motivated by variable pay. You want to be paid for what you close.
Travel to our SF office and to events and conferences across the US when needed
Willing to work Monday to Friday, normal US business hours in your time zone, with some early-morning calls to work with our Bengaluru team.
