POSITION SUMMARY:The Account Director, Commerce serves as the primary client lead for assigned Commerce accounts, responsible for managing day-to-day client relationships, driving account health, and coordinating cross-functional teams to deliver successful business outcomes.
This role acts as the connective tissue between clients and the broader Commerce organization, partnering closely with Commerce Strategy, Discoverability, Creative, Operations, Analytics, and Delivery teams to ensure client priorities are translated into actionable plans and delivered effectively.
The ideal candidate is a proactive relationship builder, skilled communicator, and strong operator who can navigate complex Commerce engagements and highly matrixed organizations, maintain stakeholder alignment, and identify opportunities for account growth.
CLIENT LEADERSHIP & ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT:- Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for assigned Commerce clients.
- Build strong relationships with client stakeholders across Marketing, eCommerce, Brand, Sales, Shopper Marketing, and Digital teams.
- Lead ongoing client communications, status meetings, planning discussions, and project reviews.
- Develop a deep understanding of client business priorities, organizational dynamics, and Commerce objectives.
- Anticipate client needs, proactively address challenges, and escalate risks when appropriate.
- Ensure a consistent, high-quality client experience across all Commerce engagements.
ACCOUNT PLANNING & GROWTH:- Support the development and execution of client roadmaps, account plans, and growth initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to expand scope, introduce additional capabilities, and strengthen client partnerships.
- Translate growth opportunities into clearly scoped proposals, partnering with cross-functional teams to define approach, resourcing, and pricing.
- Partner with Senior Account leadership to support business reviews, annual planning, and growth conversations.
- Monitor account health and client satisfaction, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Help position Marks as a trusted Commerce partner through proactive recommendations and exceptional client service.
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL LEADERSHIP & ORCHESTRATION:- Coordinate Commerce Strategy, Discoverability, Creative, Operations, Analytics, and Delivery teams across active workstreams.
- Ensure client priorities are clearly communicated and aligned across internal teams.
- Facilitate collaboration across disciplines to drive efficient execution and successful outcomes.
- Connect clients with the appropriate subject matter experts to address business challenges and opportunities.
- Ensure recommendations and initiatives are effectively implemented and supported throughout the organization.
DELIVERY & BUSINESS PERFORMANCE:- Oversee scope, timelines, budgets, forecasts, and resource planning across assigned accounts.
- Partner with Program Management and Operations teams to ensure work is delivered on time, within budget, and to expected quality standards.
- Monitor account performance and operational health, proactively addressing risks and dependencies.
- Manage scope changes, ensuring updates to estimates, timelines, and contracts are clearly communicated and approved.
- Support SOW development, contract management, and scope change discussions.
- Maintain accountability for account profitability, delivery performance, and client satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS:- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in Account Management, Client Services, Commerce, Digital Marketing, Consulting, or Agency environments.
- Proven experience managing complex client relationships and leading cross-functional teams across multiple workstreams.
- Strong understanding of Commerce, Digital Shelf, Search & Discoverability, Retail Media, Content, or adjacent digital marketing disciplines.
- Experience serving as the primary client contact for large or complex accounts, with responsibility for stakeholder management, project oversight, and account performance.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted client relationships and navigate complex organizational structures.
- Experience developing scopes of work, building estimates, budgets, and timelines, resource planning, and account profitability.
- Experience managing scopes of work, budgets, timelines, resource planning, and account profitability.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify growth opportunities and support account expansion efforts.
- Ability to connect Commerce initiatives to broader marketing, sales, and business objectives.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $115,000 USD - $125,000 USD annually. Ultimately, in determining pay, we will consider the successful candidate's location, experience, and other job-related factors.
