The Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Alberta and Alberta Health Services, Edmonton Zone, invites applications for an Academic Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Reconstructive Surgeon with an interest in translational research. The primary site of practice for this position will be at the University of Alberta Hospital.
The Section of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery provides service to the City of Edmonton and surrounding communities, with specialized care in all aspects of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery including major head and neck surgical oncology and reconstruction. The Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery has a busy and comprehensive residency and specialty training program.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to practice the full spectrum of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in a busy tertiary care institution, working cooperatively with a multidisciplinary team. It is anticipated that the applicant will have demonstrated training and expertise in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Microvascular Reconstruction. The position includes a commitment to clinical care delivery, administration, education, and research.
Required qualifications:
• Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons registration in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery or equivalent
• Completed accredited fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Microvascular Reconstruction
• Eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta
• Demonstrated research productivity
• A graduate degree (MSc or Phd in a research related discipline)
Preferred qualifications:
• A strong track record of translational research in head and neck oncology or related fields
• A Phd in a research related discipline
• Experience teaching and supervising residents and fellows
• Administrative or leadership experience in an academic clinical setting
The successful applicant will hold a special continuing appointment in the Department of Surgery, University of Alberta.
