The Position

Genentech, Inc. seeks an Upper Campus Plant Engineer at its South San Francisco, CA location.

Duties: Description: Within the biopharmaceutical industry, provide strategic long-term engineering solutions and advanced troubleshooting for complex equipment and critical utility infrastructure. Direct asset lifecycle management by authoring and approving engineering documentation, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and risk/criticality assessments. Define and certify maintenance strategies and technical spare parts programs to ensure optimal equipment performance and meet corporate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Provide high-level technical expertise in system design, functionality, and regulatory requirements. Conduct technical condition assessments and oversee the asset lifecycle through the development of data-driven dashboards and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) models. Audit technical processes and documentation to ensure 100% compliance with FDA and ISO standards. Identify and implement innovative, cost-saving solutions to reduce operational risks and improve facility efficiency. Evaluate and optimize the reliability of all campus systems to ensure business continuity. Provide expert design input and specify rigorous system requirements for equipment installation. Actively partner with Site Services; Security, Safety, Health and Environment (SSHE); Design & Construction (including designers, architects, and general contractors); and Real Estate and Workplace Effectiveness (RE/WE) to provide technical guidance on complex facility operations and regulatory adherence. Telecommuting allowed up to 2 days per week.

Education and experience required: Bachelor's degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Mechanical, Biomedical, Chemical, Industrial, or a related field of Engineering and 4 years of experience as Facilities Engineer, Validation Engineer or closely related position.

Special Requirements: Employer requires 4 years of experience with each of the following:

• Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Infrastructure Systems,
• Computerized Maintenance Management System (SAP, Veeva), Automation & Industrial Controls including knowledge of EMS, and Building Automation Systems (Siemens Desigo, ALC),
• Drawing review including reading as-built drawings to understand the system including but not limited to architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing,
• GMP/non-GMP maintenance operations, document control, processing, and repair,
• Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) to mitigate operational risks.

Telecommuting allowed up to 2 days per week.

The expected annual salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of South San Francisco, California is $150,000 to $168,500 per year. Actual pay within the range will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
