Full Job Description
Job Objectives:
• Lead the technical, commercial, and economic evaluation of international upstream opportunities.
• Develop and maintain integrated economic models incorporating subsurface, operational, commercial, fiscal, contractual, and financing assumptions, including production sharing agreements, concessions, royalties, taxes, and other complex international structures.
• Provide clear investment recommendations to senior management in coordination with Business Development and other multidisciplinary teams.

Essential Job Responsibilities:


·       Working Manager responsible for the evaluation and economic underwriting of potential international upstream acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and other investment opportunities

·       Lead integrated technical and economic valuation across all disciplines: including coordination of reservoir engineering, geology, operations, commercial, finance, legal, and External Affairs

·       Build and maintain detailed cash flow models incorporating production forecasts, capital and operating costs, commodity pricing, transportation and marketing assumptions, taxes, royalties, production sharing terms, cost recovery mechanisms, profit oil/gas splits, carried interests, and other applicable fiscal and contractual terms

·       Identify and quantify upside, key sensitivities, and value drivers for potential investment opportunities

·       Prepare and present evaluations and investment recommendations to senior management

·       Leads booking of reserves upon acquisition, including working with external auditors

·       Support Business Development and Legal in evaluating and negotiating transaction, joint venture, production sharing, concession, and other key commercial terms, including modeling alternative structures and their economic impact

·       Support identification and screening of future targets and growth strategies with Business Development

·       Lead the technical and economic evaluation of data room materials

·       Travel internationally as required for data rooms, management meetings, site visits, diligence, and other transaction activities

·       Maintains employee confidence and protects corporate assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.

·       Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional associations.

Qualifications:

  • Ten (10) years minimum experience in oil and gas industry in technical positions of increasing responsibility
  • Two (2) years minimum experience in upstream acquisitions and technical evaluations.
  • Preferred: Two (2) years minimum experience in evaluating international upstream opportunities and incorporating international fiscal and contractual structures into economic models
  • Preferred: Two (2) years minimum experience in Investment Banking or Private Equity
  • Preferred: Upper-intermediate proficiency in Spanish (B2 or equivalent)
  • Preferred: Demonstrated ability to leverage AI and automation tools to improve evaluation, screening, and analytical workflows
  • Ability to accurately and quickly solve problems and make technical decisions
  • Well-rounded upstream professional with working knowledge of reservoir engineering, operations, geology, geophysics, commercial, accounting, marketing, and fiscal structures
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across multidisciplinary internal teams and with external advisors and counterparties
  • Ability to manage multiple complex workstreams with competing priorities and transaction deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical, fiscal, and commercial information into clear recommendations for senior leadership
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills
  • Ability to work through large volumes of technical, financial, and commercial data and synthesize findings into actionable conclusions
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including the ability to build and audit complex economic models; strong working knowledge of Aries or other upstream economic evaluation software

Education Requirements:

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year university or college with a degree in engineering.
  • Preferred: MBA or Master's in Petroleum Engineering
