Full Job Description
Job Objective:
Responsible for negotiating the purchase, sale, transportation, storage, and optimization of Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs), including ethane, propane, normal butane, isobutane, and natural gasoline. This role will work closely with producers, processors, fractionators, marketers, petrochemical customers, refiners, and trade counterparties to maximize the value of Harvest’s NGL assets and commercial positions. The Sr. NGL Trader will provide market intelligence, flow assurance, risk management, and commercial optimization through marketing and trading activities.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Maximize value and provide flow assurance for Harvest-owned NGLs by identifying the optimal marketing strategy.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with producers, processors, fractionators, marketers, refiners, petrochemical companies, export facilities, and end users to understand their strategies and commercial needs.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of NGL market fundamentals, including supply and demand dynamics, fractionation capacity, export markets, petrochemical demand, seasonal impacts, and transportation infrastructure.
  • Monitor, analyze, and communicate the impact of federal and state regulatory developments, infrastructure projects, export capacity changes, and market events affecting NGL values and flows.
  • Analyze NGL pricing trends, regional differentials, purity product values, and market fundamentals to identify opportunities to maximize margins and mitigate market risks.
  • Analyze and execute transactions to optimize throughput, storage, transportation, and value realization across Harvest’s gathering, processing, fractionation, and logistics assets.
  • Develop and execute physical and financial trading strategies for NGL products, including propane, butane, natural gasoline, and other purity products.
  • Evaluate arbitrage opportunities across domestic and international markets, including storage, transportation, and export opportunities.
  • Analyze and make recommendations regarding pipeline transportation, storage capacity, fractionation agreements, and terminal services consistent with overall commercial strategy.
  • Monitor planned and unplanned operational events and work closely with scheduling, operations, and commercial teams to maximize product movement and value capture.
  • Manage product imbalances and inventory positions through commercial transactions, exchanges, and balancing agreements.
  • Identify and monitor customer credit exposure and recommend appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
  • Present market analysis and commercial recommendations to leadership in support of transaction approvals, commercial agreements, and strategic initiatives.
  • Work closely with accounting, settlements, scheduling, and back-office teams to ensure accurate and timely invoicing, settlements, inventory accounting, and payment processing.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in NGL marketing, trading, commercial optimization, or related energy marketing activities.
  • Strong understanding of NGL markets, including fractionation, storage, transportation, export markets, and purity product pricing.
  • Strong contract negotiation experience involving NGL purchase, sales, transportation, storage, and service agreements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate market opportunities and develop commercial strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal and business development skills with the ability to build and maintain industry relationships.
  • Strategic thinker with a strong understanding of market fundamentals, commercial risk, and value optimization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic market environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Education Requirements, Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year university or college.
  • MBA or advanced business, economics, finance, or energy-related degree preferred.
