The 2027 1L Innovation Summer Associate ExperienceDuring your 2027 1L summer, you will work on our Innovation Team to reimagine how legal services are delivered, connecting the substantive practice of law with the potential of AI and emerging technologies. You will:
- Work closely with our attorneys in select practice groups to evaluate their legal work and identify opportunities to embed AI to improve how we deliver legal services
- Build AI solutions in Claude, ChatGPT, Legora, or Claude Code and then iterate on those solutions directly with other partners and associates
- Develop training and demonstrations to show attorneys when and how to use the AI solutions you develop, in partnership with our AI Enablement Specialists
- Understand the impact of those AI solutions to our clients (e.g., higher quality, faster speed, or lower cost) and support our partners and marketing teams on how best to communicate these solutions and their benefits to our clients
- Shape the Innovation Team's strategy and areas of focus based on your summer learnings
You will also take on a few substantive legal assignments from litigation partners at the firm to inform your innovation work during your 1L year and provide a foundation for your 2L summer.
The 2028 2L Litigation Summer Associate ExperienceDuring your 2028 2L summer, you will work directly with MoFo attorneys on litigation matters.
MoFo's Summer Associate Program is built around three things: Impact, Innovation, and Investment.
Impact: You take on work that matters, the kind of assignments our junior associates receive. Working directly with our lawyers on substantive client matters, you will:
- Prepare drafts of briefs, motions, and client memoranda;
- Attend depositions and witness preparation sessions; and
- Conduct legal research, author articles, and engage in pro bono matters.
Innovation: You'll use your 1L Innovation summer experience to share learnings with your peers across the firm, serving as an innovation champion.
You'll continue to see the range of MoFo's work up close, from representing leading technology and life sciences companies to cross-border deals and novel legal questions. Practice group presentations and substantive assignments give you a genuine feel for the full breadth of the firm.
Investment: We don't just hire talent; we invest in it. From your first day, you'll have real support: formal mentorship, hands-on training in practice-specific and professional skills, and firm and social events that connect you with lawyers and business professionals across the firm.
