Job Role DescriptionThe Reservoir Engineer - Advanced delivers independent and integrated reservoir support to all stages of asset development and operations for new and mature fields, including project technical support and technology deployment. This role is expected to apply advanced reservoir engineering concepts, customize workflows, and mentor junior engineers.
What You Will DoKey Responsibilities:As a Reservoir Engineer in Technology Development, you will:
- Apply your reservoir engineering, computational, and data science skills to innovate and advance our understanding and ability to predict reservoir performance.
- Develop innovations that will be implemented across our upstream and low-carbon businesses to support our strategic goals.
- This role is based at the ExxonMobil campus in Spring, Texas.
Primary Duties- Collaborate with ExxonMobil business units, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to identify unmet needs in reservoir simulation capabilities.
- Work with team members to develop and mature solutions addressing these needs.
- Support the commercialization of solutions through IT and other channels.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in reservoir simulation technology, advising business unit staff on advanced applications.
- Engage with external entities such as university consortia and professional conferences.
What We Look ForQualifications and SkillsRequired:- Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering (less than 3 years from graduation).
- Proven experience in reservoir simulation.
- Proficiency in computational and data science methods for solving reservoir simulation and fluid mechanics problems.
- Experience with computational methods for solving partial differential equations (PDE).
- Demonstrated ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams, with strong teamwork, communication, and leadership skills.
Preferred:- Experience with machine learning (ML) or artificial intelligence (AI).
- Proficiency in Python or other software prototyping languages.
- Experience with INTERSECT / Petrel RE.
- Familiarity with uncertainty quantification, assisted history matching, reduced-order modeling, or surrogate modeling.
