Qualifications

• Completion of a Registered Nursing Program with certification as a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner.
• At least two years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting.
• Experience in Outpost Nursing setting is considered an asset.
• Current registration as a Registered Nurse Extended Class (RN EC) with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Understanding of Indigenous health issues and the geographic region.
• Ability to communicate in the local native Cree language is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide Primary Health Care to clients in the Hospital and Outpatient department after hours.
• Liaise and consult with physicians in Moose Factory to ensure quality care.
• Provide health teaching and promote healthy lifestyles with tailored interventions.
• Refer clients to community health agencies for follow-up care.
• Collaborate with Registered Nursing staff to develop skills for procedures delegated by physicians.
• Prescribe narcotics and controlled substances as necessary.
