Full Job Description
This position reports to:
Engineering Manager

In this role, you will serve as the technical authority for Solid-State (SS) and Electromechanical (EM) relays, with a focus on product sustainment, technical ownership, and problem resolution rather than new product design. You will apply your knowledge of relay operation to troubleshoot issues, analyze failures, ensure reliable product application, and strengthen team capabilities through technical guidance and training. You will also serve as the primary technical resource for Manufacturing, Testing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Customer Support.

The work model for this role is: Onsite

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the technical authority for electromechanical (EM) and solid-state (SS) relay products, leading troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of product, wiring/control circuit, component, production, testing, and field issues throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Own and maintain relay engineering documentation and product configuration, including specifications, technical data, test requirements, acceptance criteria, BOMs, engineering databases, and engineering changes through the ECR-ECO-ECN process.
  • Provide cross-functional technical leadership and capability building for Manufacturing, Testing, Quality, Supply Chain, and internal/external customers by delivering practical engineering solutions, troubleshooting guidance, training, and standardized technical documentation.
  • Ensure product and project technical compliance and continuous support, including qualifying alternate materials/components, addressing obsolescence and cost challenges, managing approved technical changes, and ensuring deliverables meet contractual, safety, cybersecurity, quality, and BOM requirements through project/contract closure.

  • Experience with electromechanical and solid-state relays in industrial applications.
  • Knowledge of protection relay applications and basic coordination concepts.
  • Familiarity with relay testing equipment (e.g., Omicron or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting legacy product sustainment or obsolescence management.
  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
