Basic Function

HF Sinclair, located in Dallas, TX, seeks an Manager, IT Business Partner, Commercial for its Information Technology Department. TheManager, IT Business Partner, Commercial will provide leadership, partnership, direction and guidance to the Commercial IT business partner teams across multiple verticals to ensure that business objectives are met through the effective provision of technology solutions and services. The Manager, IT Business Partner, Commercial will partner with key stakeholders to align medium to long-term IT strategic plans and capability roadmaps. The Manager, IT Business Partner, Commercialalso actively markets and promotes IT services and ensures that the demand for these are managed and prioritized effectively. The key to success is a broad knowledge of relevant business division technologies and industry trends, how to leverage digital innovation tools, compelling communication to business leadership regarding how this enables future business capability, and the ability/know-how to leverage the IT organization to drive successful delivery, considerate of local needs and global direction.

TheManager, IT Business Partner, Commercialwill manage the collaboration with senior leaders related to the function. The Business Partner may be expected to manage teams, both direct and indirect, to ensure the delivery and sustainability of our IT portfolio.

Job Duties

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with business leadership; manage other IT business partners to do the same
    • Act as the owner of IT for functional or geographic area and liaison between IT teams and the business ('One stop shop' or 'The face of IT to the Business')
    • Partners at a strategic level with business stakeholders to communicate successes, demonstrate IT value, and provide appropriate governance of IT activities
    • Coach business leaders and enable them to articulate their function's (i.e. technology, people, process) needs and requirements that will advance business performance
    • Manage IT business partners or associate business partners to build strategic roadmaps for their area of responsibility
    • Manage direct and indirect resources throughout the value delivery process; this can include resources in both the IT and Business organizations
    • Mentor and shape initiatives and work efforts to seek cost efficiencies and effectiveness for the business leveraging digital innovation tools & related technologies
    • Attract, develop and the talent needed for current and future business requirements.
    • Articulate an inspiring vision for the future, establish high performance expectations and set examples through behavior
    • Ensure alignment of individual goals with overall business objectives; coach team members to success and hold individuals accountable for achieving results
    • Direct vendor accountability from a contractual perspective to meet service level expectations and to comply with business/facility related policies
    • Gather business needs and gain alignment between business needs and technical capabilities, engaging with Business Analysts and Enterprise Architects
    • Manage business expectations with business stakeholders based on IT resource availability
    • Promote business projects and their value to the IT leaders and community
    • Influence a global matrix organization and coordinate both regional and global stakeholders
    • Exhibit an expert understanding of functional procurement disciplines and technical IT knowledge (applications, analytics, hardware, software, security, etc.) to identify opportunities to leverage information technology and emerging technology to achieve business objectives and assist in deployment
    • Evaluate, recommend, map and drive changes to current and future system requirements to meet global business organizational needs
    • Possess deep knowledge of the IT industry for that business, best practice, business and incumbent functional area in order to be a trusted business advisor for the Functional Leaders in the region
    • Provide strategic consulting for large, cross boundary and/or "first-of-a-kind" projects within the function
    • Drives strategic business value and innovation


Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

Experience

Required Experience:
  • A minimum of eight years of working knowledge in IT or Commercial functions.
  • A minimum of five years of working knowledge in the Utilities/Refining Industry with some lead or supervisory experience.
  • A minimum of five to eight years of work experience with SAP.


Education Level

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required.

Preferred Education: Master's Degree preferred.

Required Skills

IT experience might be waived if Business experience is strong and person can demonstrate a strong knowledge of IT and refining or commercial operations. Experience in strategic decision making and successful influencing on leadership level is required .Previous experience with, and exposure to, SAP technology and processes. Experience building and communicating future business plans and capabilities along with being able to provide insights into the technologies needed for delivery. General understanding of corporate IT governance practices and data migration/integration skills. Ability to lead business process improvement initiatives, and implementations in some or all of the following areas: revenue, sales, contracts, inventory, exchanges, marketing. Advanced knowledge of implementing and supporting SAP and other business applications, which may include: integrating terminal automation systems (Top Tech, Diamond Control Systems, etc.); integrating external data feeds including pricing services (DTN, Global View, OPIS, etc.), customer relationship management systems (SalesForce), energy trading or risk management tools (Allegro, SolArc Right Angle, SAP Commodity Management) and/or industry best practices relating to revenue and inventory accounting within the refinery and pipeline industries. Ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal communication. Advanced reading and writing skills, with the ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations.

Preferred Skills:
  • Consulting background is preferred.
  • Financial acumen to support business case creation and measurement is highly preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of the specific business's technologies and capabilities including deal capture and contract creation, pricing, and inventory management is preferred. Experience with warehouse management is a plus. Ability to work in a virtual team which may work across distance (remote), cultures and time zones, with multiple reporting lines, and may extend outside the organization including suppliers, partners and customers.
  • Distribution and materials management areas in the Oil & Gas refinery and pipeline industry are preferred.


Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

Responsible for managing approximately two to four exempt-level professional employees.

Work Conditions

Office based with up to 10% travel by land and air required. Driver based environment. Subject to all weather and varying road conditions
