PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in Austin, TX
Job Duties: Analyze software product requirements and transform them into scalable technical designs. Create new product design specifications for PayPal's payments engine software to enhance the efficiency of real-time processing for millions of PayPal's payments every single day for merchants. Work with other engineers, managers, product management, quality analysts, and operations teams to develop innovative software products and solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, availability, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to software development goals and principles. Research, analyze, design, develop, and test the solutions that are appropriate for the business and technology strategies. Design and implement Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to integrate, test, and deploy code into new technical designs. Develop automated tests and deliver high-quality software code to production within a short development cycle in the continuous integration and delivery environment. Identify and fix performance, scalability, and other software live issues in a very time-critical environment. Drive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews. Estimate engineering effort, plan implementation, and rollout system changes. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field plus five years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Software engineering, object-oriented programming, infrastructure engineering, or DevOps (2 years)
2. Java, Groovy, or Go (2 years)
3. DevOps - Jenkins, CI/CD, Terraform (IoC), and related technologies (2 years)
4. Experience designing/implementing/migration of CI/CD pipelines (2 years)
5. Docker/Containerization and Kubernetes (2 years)
6. Provisioning or maintaining on-prem or cloud infrastructure (2 years)

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:
Primary Location | Pay Range:
Austin, Texas | Salary: $163,550.00-221,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
