PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in San Jose, CA
Job Duties: Drive the scalability and reliability of Venmo's cloud infrastructure with autonomy and accountability. Develop software infrastructure and build new features to meet and exceed users' needs and wants. Design, develop, and deploy software applications. Architect seamless operation functionality for Venmo's user-facing services and production systems. Guide application teams to enhance their AWS cloud capabilities. Lead key initiatives within your domain, driving impactful solutions. Manage infrastructure end-to-end-covering operations, automation, security, compliance, and release engineering-while blending Cloud Engineering with SRE and DevOps practices. Drive key initiatives, mentor teams, and champion best practices. Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed from anywhere in the U.S.
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field, plus three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field, plus six years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Experience with automating cloud infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation. (5 years with Bachelors; 3 years with Masters);
2. Experience automating repetitive operational tasks by creating scripts in Python, Shell, or a similar language to improve efficiency. (5 years with a Bachelor's; 3 years with Masters);
3. Experience with monitoring using Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog. (5 years with a Bachelors; 3 years with a Masters);
4. Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for production deployments using Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or Circle CI. (5 years with a Bachelors; 3 years with a Masters);
5. Experience with Kubernetes (EKS) deployments (3 years);
6. Experience with database (RDS) reliability (4 years with Bachelors; 3 years with Masters);
7. Experience with cloud security by managing AWS IAM roles, firewalls, or encryption protocols (5 years with Bachelors; 3 with Masters);
8. Experience with disaster recovery and incident management (3 years);
9. Experience in monitoring resource utilization using cost optimization dashboards and identifying opportunities for cloud spend efficiency (6 years with Bachelors; 3 years with Masters);
10. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and creating/authoring documentation to share across teams. (3 years).
Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:
The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:
Primary Location | Pay Range:
San Jose, California | $169,576.00-243,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
