Full Job Description
Position Purpose:

The Sr. Manager SEO is responsible for leading a team focused on driving our overall Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy and objectives. This role provides thought leadership to define our SEO roadmap, strategic priorities, technical capabilities, and talent development plan. The Sr. Manager sets overall priorities for their respective team, manages expectations with key stakeholders, and ensures that work processes are established with key cross-functional partners. In addition, the Sr. Manager is responsible for hiring and developing talent within their team that is needed to accomplish our strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • 15% - Collaboration and Partnerships - Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders including Merchandising, Marketing, Engineering, Product Management, and others. Working effectively to influence cross functional partners by building consensus and aligning resources based on business priorities.
  • 30% - Operational excellence - Responsible for ensuring the necessary processes, roles/responsibilities, and reporting capabilities are in place to plan, execute, and measure the work of the team. Work cross-functionally to align resources in order to accomplish business goals.
  • 15% - Performance Measurement - Ensure capabilities for measuring and communicating SEO performance is in place. Responsible for the management of operational reporting and communication to SEO leadership and cross functional partners on the performance of the organic traffic to homedepot.com.
  • 20% - Strategic Planning - Help to define the overall team roadmap and objectives, including technical and/or content SEO. Outline project goals, dependencies, resources, and risks of planned projects. Coordinate with peers on roles/responsibilities to ensure overall SEO goals and objectives are being met.
  • 20% - Talent Development - Responsible for team organizational planning, hiring, training, and cultural development within your team. Ensuring overall talent development and planning is fully adopted from the broader organization.

  • This Position typically reports to the Director of SEO

Travel Requirements:
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 5% of the time.

Physical Requirements:
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Working Conditions:
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of presentation software (e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in search engine optimization (SEO) with a proven track record of success in driving organic traffic and improving website rankings.
  • Prior management experience leading other managers with direct reports
  • Prior experience with enterprise level SEO, preferably in an ecommerce environment
  • Experience with enterprise level SEO tools, such as Google Search Console, Lumar, Brightedge, and others
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills needed to develop team resources, build cross-functional partnerships, and to effectively communicate SEO concepts to nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
