The Buyer performs a variety of moderately complex tasks in support of the procurement function related to the purchasing of services, indirect materials, and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) items. This role supports day-to-day tactical purchasing activities, supplier coordination, issue resolution, and procurement record maintenance. The Buyer applies working knowledge of procurement practices, guidelines, and commercial terms to support business objectives and ensure efficient execution of purchasing activities in accordance with company procedures and requirements. This position supports the Cypress, California location within the Space division, and candidates located in the Pacific or Mountain time zones are preferred to support business operations and team coordination.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of moderately complex tasks in support of the procurement function related to the purchasing of services, indirect materials, and COTS items.
  • Support day-to-day purchasing activities through execution of general tactical procurement duties.
  • Process purchase requirements and support supplier changes, including Engineering Change Notices, as applicable.
  • Communicate supplier performance related to cost, quality, delivery, and customer service.
  • Assist with supplier negotiations and apply working knowledge of procurement practices, guidelines, and commercial terms to support sound purchasing decisions.
  • Resolve routine supplier issues related to pricing, quality, delivery timing, and service.
  • Track and report cost savings and cost avoidance opportunities, as applicable.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier files, and related documentation.
  • Support management of supplier issues involving cost, quality, delivery, and customer service, with escalation as needed.
  • Serve as a point of contact between internal personnel and assigned suppliers and maintain professional working relationships.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to support purchasing requirements and ensure timely execution of procurement activities.
  • Support compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable procurement requirements.

    • Experience supporting purchasing, procurement, or supply chain activities.
    • Working knowledge of procurement principles, purchasing practices, and supplier management processes.
    • Basic understanding of commercial terms and conditions and general procurement guidelines.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and support a range of purchasing activities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
    • Experience working with ERP systems such as Costpoint or similar business systems is preferred.
    • Ability to work independently while maintaining responsiveness, accountability, and cross-functional coordination.
    • Candidates located in the Pacific or Mountain time zones are preferred.

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.

The salary range for this position is $69,051/year- $98,744/year. This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including but not limited to: Federal contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope, and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate's qualifications such as prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education/training, and certifications. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for: annual performance-based bonuses, equity awards, and overtime pay (for non-exempt employees as applicable.
