Minimum qualifications:

  • Experience building automation, internal tooling, or AI-driven solutions to replace manual operational work.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, particularly GCE and their underlying resource needs.
  • Experience defining and implementing new processes in complex organizational structures, coupled with excellent communication skills for presenting to and influencing senior leadership.
  • Experience working alongside external partners or operating within highly regulated environments.
  • Deep understanding of large-scale production infrastructure and capacity management tooling.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence in a matrixed environment, successfully coordinating work across many different engineering teams.

Trusted Partner Cloud (TPC) is a program to address strict sovereignty requirements around the world by building local, isolated clouds operated by jurisdiction-specific partners. TPC is in the execution stage with hundreds of teams involved, and is Google Cloud's top priority.

As a Tech Lead in TPC Operations, you will be a key technical leader driving the strategy and execution to ensure Google's Trusted Partner Cloud platforms operate reliably, efficiently, and sustainably at scale. You will work on ambiguous, cross-organizational challenges, pioneering innovative solutions in areas like multi-universe reliability, turn-up automation, and AI-Powered Operations to reduce toil and enhance partner autonomy.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $262000 - $365000 (USD) 25% bonus target equity benefits

Responsibilities
  • Define and drive the multi-year technical roadmap to optimize Trusted Partner Cloud (TPC) operations, systematically reducing cognitive load, toil, and operational risks for both Google engineering teams and external partner operators.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies that minimize correlated failures across isolated sovereign universes, ensuring that operational load scales sublinearly as new regions are launched.
  • Lead the technical convergence and integration of turn-up graphs to streamline new region and service deployments, providing senior technical oversight for critical production and staging environments.
  • Lead the design and adoption of AI/ML solutions-including in-universe agentic tooling and RAG-driven diagnostics-to shift operations from manual intervention to policy-supervised automation.
  • Partner with VPs, engineering leads, and partner operator teams to establish clear roles, align on incident response protocols, and drive the adoption of sustainable operational models across complex organizational structures.
