Purpose of Job:

The primary mandate of this role is to lead, manage, and continuously evolve the Central Planning Group-a national team of financial planning professionals with varying levels of expertise-responsible for providing financial planning software support to Advisors and Planners across Scotia Wealth Management, Scotia Financial Planning, MD Management, and the Retail Bank.

Major Accountabilities:

Lead the Central Planning Group and support its continuing evolution by focusing on operational excellence, service quality, and advisor experience.
• Coaching to ensure the delivery of strong service levels related to telephone and email support for financial planning questions and engagements from basic to complex.
• Championing a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and build broader Bank relationships.
• Continually enhancing the knowledge of the Central Planning Group by providing technical sessions on new and innovative planning strategies.
• Support advisor education through case consultations, best practice sharing, tools, and internal knowledge resources
• Design, implement, and continuously improve the financial planning help desk service model, including intake, prioritization, SLAs, escalation protocols, and turnaround standards
• Act as the primary point of accountability for resolving operational or service delivery issues impacting the advisor experience.
• Collect and synthesize advisor feedback to continuously improve the help desk value proposition

Stakeholder Partnership Management;
• Act as a strategic partner to Regional Directors, Senior Managers, and Product and Platform teams to align planning solutions with business priorities.
• Influence decisions across the enterprise by providing data driven insights and recommendations related to planning effectiveness, advisor capacity, and client outcomes.

Promote awareness of the Central Planning Group and Total Wealth Planning, by:
• Build awareness and adoption of the Central Planning Group (CPG) and Client Solutions through strategic internal communications and partnerships.
• Partner with regional leadership to promote the CPG planning experience, emphasizing planning oversight, timely delivery, and opportunity management.
• Collaborate with Marketing and key internal stakeholders to ensure Total Wealth Planning is effectively positioned within enterprise initiatives.
• Develop and refine internal content and collateral (articles, newsletters, presentations, and resources) to support advisor engagement and new initiatives.
• Act as a subject matter expert on planning-related projects led by Total Wealth Planning or other business partners, as required.

Education & Experience - Enhancements
• Demonstrated experience leading large scale strategic initiatives or enterprise projects within Wealth Management or Financial Services.
• Experience translating strategy into execution, including operating model change, service model design, or technology enablement.
• Strong executive communication skills, including the ability to present recommendations and progress updates to senior leadership.

Strategic Initiatives & Enterprise Project Leadership
• Own and lead priority strategic initiatives on behalf of the Total Wealth Planning leadership team, including operating model evolution, capacity optimization, and planning enablement programs.
• Translate TWP strategy into clearly defined initiatives, project plans, milestones, and success metrics.
• Lead cross functional project teams including Technology, Operations, Compliance, Marketing, and Regional Wealth partners.
• Measure and communicate initiative outcomes, business impact, risks, and interdependencies to senior leadership.

Education/Work Experience/Designations
Required:
• University degree
• Accredited financial planning designation (CFP, or Pl.Fin -IPF applicable for Quebec)
• Continuing education through wealth management industry courses
• Over 5 years of experience as a practicing financial planner in the High Net Worth space
• Experience managing a large national team

Desirables:
• Life Insurance license
• Comprehensive technical and behavioural understanding and execution of the financial planning process including investments, asset protection, retirement, estate planning, cash management, taxation issues and risk management to clients
• Working knowledge of financial planning software; Conquest Planning
• Knowledge of data gathering, reporting and analysis for management reporting
• Working knowledge of the Wealth Management business line including the value proposition, the products and services it provides to high-net-worth clients, and the manner in which they are delivered
