We are looking for an accountable and driven Senior Delivery Manager to join Mobile & Web Engineering team - where we develop and modernize the technology that powers the customer products & services via digital distribution channels. CBE Mobile & Web team consists of departments with high performing agile teams working closely together to deliver, support, and maintain the many applications and ecosystems within Canadian Banking Engineering. You will identify, report, escalate and remove release and team impediments. As a Senior Manager for Delivery, you will also manage the budget, schedule, risks, issues, reporting and governance of projects.

  • Possess strong leadership skills to inspire, motivate, and guide team members to achieving their delivery goals.
  • Have a strong business and technical background in the software development life cycle. Your background will help guide the team, solve technical challenges, and make informed decisions.
  • Guide and participate with the team to get to educated estimates leveraging your project delivery and solution design experience.
  • Work with a team to identify roadmap/feature dependencies and impediments.
  • Be accountable for tracking the dependencies and impediments and removing them to enable the team: surface, track, escalate.
  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised and resolved.
  • Assist in the identification and mitigation of project risks before they become issues.
  • Identify and act on coaching opportunities at the individual and team level.
  • Conduct regular assessments of the team's Agile Maturity and use the results to guide them to improved performance.
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies (Daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, and Retrospective) and longer-term planning exercises (Release Planning, Release Train Planning).
  • Be an expert in estimating and planning.
  • Build useful, reliable, and practical plans for software development projects.
  • Coordinate operational readiness activities with associated teams (security, infrastructure, network, etc.)
  • Oversee and coordinate software release activities.
  • Actively participate and help in timely decision making in defining product backlog (working with Product Owner, Business Analyst); alignment to overall product architecture, and technical design (working with Architect and Tech Leads)
  • Effectively communicate with business functions, analysis, development, and quality assurance teams to align technology solutions with business needs.
  • Manage and drive the delivery of external vendor dependencies to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Drive accountability across internal project team members, business functional areas, external project teams, and external vendors.
  • Have a keen attention to detail to enable collaboration with various teams to ensure high quality of systems being developed and deployed.
  • Propose solutions and alternatives to internal and external stakeholders to enable the most effective process and solution to be implemented.


Project Management

  • Tracking projects through each phase of project lifecycle
  • Work with all the dependent teams and prepare execution plan
  • Working with various teams to achieve end-to-end project delivery
  • Ensure milestones are met and project has gone through all approval gates
  • Document project status & assist team in maintaining information repositories
  • Maintain project risk tracker and communicate project risks to management
  • Prepare work back schedules, roadmap and capacity planning at a project level
  • Ensure a balance between team capacity and workload is kept in order to achieve a successful project delivery
  • Support app releases & rollout related activities


Communication & Collaboration: Stakeholder Management

  • Keep all stakeholders up to date on project status and roadblocks
  • Ability to set expectations with all stakeholders, execute and communicate accordingly
  • Identification of risks and issues that require DF leadership attention
  • Ability to articulate and clearly communicate complex problems and Solutions in a simple and logical manner following stakeholder field of expertise
  • Ability to work effectively with engineering Sr Managers when needed to remediate risk around project delivery.
  • Engage stakeholders (e.g. risk, legal, audit) as needed for consultation throughout the course of the project.


Continuous Improvement

  • Providing feedback to help improving processes and tools
  • Working on aligning best practices across delivery team
  • Continuous improvement and learning from other delivery team members
  • Take active role on application audit related activities
  • Be able to adjust, learn and iterate frequently


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • 5 years' experience in managing and delivering complex software projects
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of Agile methodology while delivering IT projects. Ideally has Certified Scrum master certification (CSM / PSM) and/or PMP
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of project management practices, disciplines, tools, and methodologies.
  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills to rapidly assess problem situations.
  • Hands-on experience leading release management activities for successful delivery of product launches
  • Demonstrates creativity and adaptability when identifying solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate on a broad spectrum (from deep technical discussions to high level executive vision)
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and relationships management skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives
  • Demonstrates proactivity and accountability.
