What you'll be doing

Our Personal Lending Regulatory Programs team helps protect the bank and support a strong client experience by ensuring collateral strategies, data, and monitoring practices are effective, accurate, and aligned with regulatory expectations. As a Senior Manager, Portfolio Analytics and Insights, you'll lead complex analysis and strategic recommendations to optimize collateral management across the RESL portfolio. You'll provide data-driven insights to support appraisal strategy, maximum loan amount calculations, and broader product strategy monitoring, while identifying opportunities to improve processes, data quality, and drive operational efficiency. You'll partner with the business to generate competitive insights and analysis on emerging market and risk trends, supporting sustainable portfolio growth, strong client outcomes, and portfolio resilience. You'll work closely with partners across Risk, Retail Operations, Legal, Compliance, Audit, Treasury, and Business Intelligence to develop business cases, implement strategic initiatives, and track results. You'll also act as a subject matter expert, helping the team adapt to collateral management practices as personal borrowing strategies evolve.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you'll succeed

  • Advanced analytics and insight generation - Use advanced analytics and statistical insights to identify trends, assess risk, and provide recommendations that optimize collateral management practices. Design and interpret reporting, queries, and analysis to support deeper insight into the RESL portfolio.

  • Appraisal and lending optimization - Review and challenge appraisal management strategy using data-driven insights, including recommendations on the appropriate mix of appraisal methods within CIBC's risk appetite. Provide ongoing monitoring and recommendations to optimize Maximum Loan Amount Calculations (MLAC).

  • Strategic collateral management - Lead the development and enhancement of strategies that safeguard RESL collateral assets, support effective portfolio monitoring, and enable responsible business growth. Partner with the business to translate competitive insights and emerging market and risk trends into recommendations that strengthen portfolio performance, client experience, operational efficiency, controls, and regulatory compliance.

  • Cross-functional partnership - Build strong working relationships with senior leaders, business partners, vendors, and consultants across the organization. Collaborate on business cases, strategic initiatives, and implementation plans to ensure deliverables are achieved on time and with the right outcomes.

  • Data quality and continuous improvement - Define data requirements in partnership with Business Intelligence and other stakeholders. Lead initiatives to improve the integrity, accuracy, and quality of collateral-related data through validation, analysis, and continuous improvement.

  • Risk and issue management - Investigate and resolve complex collateral-related issues to ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Serve as a trusted subject matter expert and provide informed recommendations as new personal borrowing strategies are introduced.

Who you are

  • You're an experienced strategic leader. You bring strong experience in banking, lending, risk, portfolio and collateral management, or a related field, with the ability to lead complex initiatives and influence decisions across a broad stakeholder group.

  • You have strong analytical expertise. You use data to uncover insights, assess risk, and support well-reasoned recommendations. You're comfortable translating complex analysis into clear business actions and strategic decisions.

  • You can demonstrate experience working with large and complex datasets,  statistical modeling (e.g. regression, forecasting, segmentation, predictive analysis), Python, SQL, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. You have experience with Power BI for data visualization. It’s an asset if you are familiar with DM and DM rules.

  • You're knowledgeable in personal lending and banking operations. You understand the personal lending business, related systems, and the broader banking environment, including trends, controls, and regulatory considerations that affect collateral management.

  • You're a collaborative relationship builder. You build trust quickly and work effectively with colleagues, executives, vendors, and external partners. You know how to gain support, align priorities, and move work forward in a matrixed environment.

  • You're an effective communicator. You have well-developed written, verbal, and presentation skills, and you're able to explain complex concepts clearly to different audiences, including senior leaders and translate sophisticated quantitative analysis into executive-level recommendation

  • Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
